Civetta 2.5L Jacket

You never really know what the weather's going to do, especially when you're up in the mountains for hours or days at a time. But when you've got the ultralight and ultra-packable protection of the Ortovox Civetta 2.5L Jacket sitting in your pack you won't give storm clouds a second thought. Weighing only six ounces but still offering full waterproof and windproof protection from the storm, this jacket is a no-brainer to bring along on any outdoor adventure, especially given its super-small pack size.

The Civetta can stuff into its own chest pocket to take up barely any space in your pack, and also features a carabiner loops to stay clipped onto a climbing harness in case wet weather rolls in during multi-pitch climbs or mountaineering missions. The fabric itself is made with a durable two-way stretch nylon, which features a waterproof and highly breathable Toray Dermizax NX membrane that will not only keep out the water pouring down from above, but will let your own heat vapor escape to ensure that you won't wind up soaked with sweat anyways.

  • Ultralight alpine shell to keep you dry without adding any weight
  • Waterproof membrane protects from rainy skies or blowing snow
  • Jacket stuffs into its own chest pocket for ultimate packability
  • Two-way stretch fabric allows for easier movement in tough terrain
  • Breathable construction lets heat escape when you start to sweat
  • Elastic cuffs, hem, and hood help seal out wild weather
  • Merino Cool inserts at the chin and forehead offer soft comfort
  • Item #ORT009P

Ortovox really makes amazing stuff! Thankfully I was able to get this on sale, and it's just an amazing jacket. I got a large and it weighs roughly 6.4oz. I'm 6 foot with athletic build and this is roomy enough in the arms to layer.. I have had issues with other jackets in that area. This isJust incredible for what you get. It's beautiful because of the engineering I can wear this for both a wind and rain jacket. The Merino cool beads woven into the fabric makes this a remarkable jacket. I've never felt clamy or over heated in it. I love how it can stow up into its own pocket. They even thought to put soft Merino on the inside of the zipper where it might touch your face.. making it very comfy. If I had to ask for anything else on this jacket it would be hand pockets.. but I really can't complain because I've tried half a dozen other jackets for my long distance hikes, and none of them come close to this in functionality, comfort, and durability.

I picked this up as a trail running shell. For that purpose, it's perfect: packs small enough to fit low-profile in the vest pocket, keeps me plenty warm and dry, breathes better than expected. Otherwise, It has proven to be very useful on a few backpacking trips. The large fits over my lightweight puffy for a bombproof combination. I might even take it skiing this coming winter on shorter tours. Worth mentioning the large has plenty of sleeve length for the taller, slender guy, and doesn't tent out at the waist, which is a major plus. Also, the yellow looks stellar. Stoked on Ortovox and will be looking at their shells for winter.

Was thinking of picking one of these up. Do you think it would hold up for ski touring? How’s the durability?

Crazy thin with all the protection

I'm not sure how Ortozox is able to make this hardshell so thin and yet retain it's waterproof and windproof characteristics. This jacket packs down to nothing, yet is ready for almost anything.

I must divulge that i am the Ortovox rep in the region , however we use the stuff we sell at KNS Reps . So far I have used this jacket in all conditions. From Skiing The Pacific Northwest and the Rockies , to Mountain biking on those questionable Fall days . Its breath-abilty is impressive as well as the 4 way Dermizax stretch . At 68 grams youll bring it everywhere !
