    A go-anywhere snow shovel.

The Ortovox Beast Snow Shovel is an all-around dependable shovel for any snow conditions, from powder to solidified chunder. A resilient oval aluminum shaft and blade take on the toughest tasks, and a sanded handle offers a glove-friendly grip. A slightly scooped blade maximizes shoveling capacity and slips easily into your pack. The assembled shovel is small enough to put inside your pack in one piece, and the handle telescopes to a longer length for more efficient digging.

    Nice upgrade from last year

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have owned a couple of the Ortovox Beast shovels (with and without the snow saw) and the upgrades this year are pretty sweet. The main one is changing the lower grip on the shaft from a grip tape/sandpaper material to a polymer. This decreases wear and tear on your gloves or hands if you happen to be wearing liner gloves or no gloves at all. I feel like the Beast is a bit more durable and comfortable to use compared to the Voile models and I prefer the blade size and shape compared to the Backcountry Access models.
