Why We Like The E-Glow Handlebar Bag

E-bikers have specific needs too, and that's why Ortlieb designed the E-Glow Handlebar Bag. It's a multitalented, waterproof handlebar bag with LED lighting and bottle-cage mounts. This makes up for the lack of water cage space e-bikes have to offer, and we like that it's designed with four different handlebar mounts available.

Perfect. And kinda cool too.

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Purchased this to upsize from the basic Ultimate 6 bag for an upcoming tour. The LED lights are a bonus! Typical Ortlieb quality. Very satisfied. The other reviewer 100% had to install theirs incorrectly. Installed correctly it should be virtually impossible for the mount to sag.

Great Handbag ... NOT a Handlebar Bag

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have ordered two Ortlieb bags and have been extremely disappointed with the mounting systems on both! Opening this box, I could not have been happier. Finally a structured, top-flap bag that fit between drop handles. Now I could easily grab needed items without leaving the saddle. I envisioned putting maps underneath the see-through holder in the lid. The fact that it had LED lights made it even better (the illumination is both outward and internally facing - making night rides cool and functional). Bottom line ... It is an awesome bag !!! However, all of my hopes and dreams for the bag crashed to the ground (literally) when I mounted it to my bike. The bracket has a smooth surface that mates to smooth handlebars and is held in place by smooth cables which are difficult to draw tight and lock in place with hex head bolts. Try pulling a thin cable tight with one hand while using a tiny Allen wrench to tighten a downward facing bolt. Ugg!!! After much work, I got the bracket cabling as tight as possible and I clipped the bag on (all good - looked great). The first pavement crack I rolled over, the bag drooped down and began rubbing on the tire. I removed the two items I had in the bag (wallet and phone) hoisted it back into position and set off again. Next bump ... same as the first. Eventually, I need to hold the bag in place until I got home. The German in me wanted to reengineer the bracket, add a rubber sleeve and 3D print a backing bracket to replace the cables. However, for $125, I should just get a bag that works ... so I sent it back. Message to Ortlieb ..."Stop bragging about being Made In Germany ... you are making us look bad" My very German grandfather used to say ... "Whoever engineered this should try one more time and then quit forever."
