Might as well leave it in your pack.
Your backpacking buddy said he'll bring the stove and all the pots needed for the next trip, but you'll pack the Optimus Crux Lite Solo Cook System anyway. It's just so light and compact, and it's always smart to have a spare when it comes to backpacking. The Crux Lite Stove is the lightest option offered by Optimus, and it packs inside the two included pots, which also pack into each other for compact storage. The pots also feature retractable handles, and Optimus included a mesh bag to store the cook system as well as utensils and gas canisters.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I like how the pots stack together, open ends facing each other to create a capsule. A small canister (not included) fits inside the large pot with the stove and it comes with a snug mesh bag that told it all together.
Thee arms on the stove burner fold out and are sturdy holding the large pot full of water. Easy turntable gas release for ignition.
I've only used it to boil water for freeze dried food packets and have made tea and coffee in the pots. There is a little pour spout on the large pot that makes it easy to get boiling water into a bag. Not sure how easy to clean if food was made directly in the pots.
Handles fold out and are sturdy, coated with green plastic/rubber for grip and protection against heat.
I plan on getting a lot of use out of it and will update this review when "I've put it through the ringer."
