Cloudventure Trail Running Shoe

Yesterday's rocks feel like fluffy clouds now that you have the On Footwear Men's Cloudventure Trail Running Shoe. This trail runner has an uncanny combination of lightweight flexibility and phenomenal cushioning thanks to the CloudTec midsole, which removes unnecessary foam in eleven specific areas to ensure proper cush and less weight.  The micro-engineered Grip-Rubber sole has four different densities to assure the traction you want on the uphill and down. A two-layer upper places breathable mesh around your foot, and a water-resistant exterior to shed mud and moisture with ease.

I'm writing this review 48 hours after purchasing the shoe. On the first run I took them out on, we ended up having to bail out early because the tread ripped off on both L&R shoes exposing my socks on both feet. The way these shoes are constructed, the 'bubbles' are built into teh sole. So the entire length of the bubble, toe to heel ripped off on the outside of both feet. Not only did the shoes literally break within a few miles of running, but the traction was absolutely HORRIBLE. I've been trail running a long time, and these are hands down the worst designed shoes on the market. On running has great marketing. Their ads show people running in very rocky terrain and along ridgelines in groups, etc. I'm willing to bet the shoes they used for those shoots were thrown in the trash casn immediately. I owned one pair of ON previously that I had won at a race. I had the opportunity to run on them maybe twice before the sole started doing something similar. Buy at your own risk. Edit: ON removed my review from their website, so I'll let you decide what that means for the integrity of the company.

Light, but rocks get stuck

My fiance is trail running in these on and off. His review as follows. These shoes look good. On Running does a solid job in making sure that their shoes look sleek and fast. That being said, they also feel lightweight. The difference between these and my Salomon Speedcross trail shoes is big. I feel lighter and faster with these On Clouds on my feet. They also have a nice spot to slip the tied up laces in, so they aren't in your way while running. The only con to these shoes is that they have a channel on the bottom, and rocks can get stuck. I find that happens more when I'm going slower, but who knows.

I've put a couple runs in the Cloudventure so far and these are my early impressions - Out of the box they look sweet! The attention to detail On puts into their shoes is top notch as you can see from my close-up of the seam welded upper. I still don't know how I feel about the outsole. Being a trail shoe they don't seem as durable as some of my other shoes but I'll need to put in a few months of rugged trail running before I know for sure. Compliments vs comfort

I picked up these shoes today. It may be premature for a review but I have some initial impressions. Out of the box they felt very comfortable. I wore them at work and received several compliments and questions about the sole design. The construction is good quality and they do look cool. They kept my feet cool as well. I normally run in Salomon Speedcross and immediately missed the speedlace system. The fit felt similar however. They provide a soft step that for me will take a minute to decide if I like or not. I wore these for the day and by the time I got to my car my big toe joints were in pain. I will get out on a trail this weekend and update with additional thoughts.
