No better distance shoe on the market
I’m on my 5th pair of On CloudFlyers and 7th pair of On CloudVentures. I run 40-60 miles per week, 70% trail and 30% road. I typically race trail-ultras but also train on the road. There is simply no better running shoe on the market right now than the On. The CloudFlyer is an all-around training shoe for all distances. I have found it to be light enough for workouts and speed, yet cushy enough for long distance. True to size, very light for a training shoe, sturdy platform/stance, and exceptional construction. You can spend $400+ on some crap Nike (1%’s) that will only last for 26 miles, or $80 on a junk shoe that will ruin your feet... or you can but the best mix of lightweight, cushion, longevity, and looks on the market. Once you try On’s you won’t go back.

Call it what it is
So these shoes would be awesome if you only ran on a track or treadmill, but what I have come to experience with on running shoes is a serious lack of consideration for real world practicality. Don’t get me wrong here, everything here is top notch from them welded and seamless upper to the high tech clouds, but there is just something major I can’t get over. Rocks! The cloud elements suck up rocks and I have to stop on every run to take off my shoes and pull out rocks. The concept of the clouds is great, shave some weight and remove some foam, sure Nike has been doing it for decades but they had it right by enclosing that space so you don’t have to stop every two miles to fish out rocks. I have had a few really great speedwork and tempo seshions in the cloudflyer and really enjoy the comfort of the shoe, but I will be leaving these for the track, gym, and treadmill as I have shoes that don’t collect rocks like a 4th grader with Pokémon cards. I think on really is on to something but they need to reavalute whether it’s for fashion or function, I’m leaning more towards fashion.

Truly flying on clouds
The cloud technology really is super comfortable! As you can see in the picture they really move around all the different rocks, or cracks that you walk on all day. The added cushion is also appreciated if you're on your feet all day, running a long race, walking around town, or strolling through Disneyland. ON also has done a really nice job with their designs, simple and elegant. The color ways aren't flashy, but they also aren't boring. You can wear these with any outfit and look like you know what you're doing. I mainly trail run, so the Cloudventure is usually my go to. The Cloudflyer however does work on most trails, for a run around the neighborhood, walking the dogs, and they are a great shoe for the athleisure look on your rest day.
