Super light weight and lighter than my Brooks cadence. You won’t be disappointed if you’re looking for light weight minimalist feel for running and cross training. Haven’t tried it for long distance running but I have been told this is not meant for long distance.

Great shoe for Orangetheory / Crosstrain

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I recently started Orangetheory, but my bulky Brooks running shoes (which are great for running) were not giving me the stability I needed for the lunges, etc. and were clunky on the rowing machine. After researching crosstrainers, the On Cloud X was recommended with consistency so I thought I'd give them a try. They have been awesome for all of my classes - great for running comfortably on the treadmill, good stability on the weight floor, and not bulky at all for the rowing machine. My only complaint was that the laces are a bit thin / weak. However, I reached out to On directly, and they are sending me a complimentary new pair of laces. Can't recommend these shoes enough! I normally wear a 7-7.5, but after reading reviews that they run small, I bought a size 8, which has been the perfect size.

Love my new shoes!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I purchased these shoes for indoor running as well as indoor training and i am very happy with them. They are lightweight, comfortable and fit perfectly. I am normally an 8.5 or 9 and went with a 9. I would highly recommend getting a pair of your own!

I had not heard of On Footwear before i worked at backcountry.com, but now that i know of them I will always vouch for the brand and the shoes. I own this shoe in black and white, and i have had a number of compliments and questions when people see them. They are low key but very fashionable as far as running shoes go. I have used them at the gym, at work, and during fencing classes, and they support my feet and my stature in every circumstance. they have enough cushion for high velocity impacts and change of direction. They would be a great road runner. I have a 6.5 and wear a street shoe in 6.5. If i were using this for running i would suggest sizing up a half size.

Great for Roads

I bought these for road running & have been very impressed. They feel fast, but they offer enough cushion for training runs. I bought my typical running size & they fit great.

not too bad, but beware of blister

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I took these out to demo and ran about three miles in them. They were good just walking around and for the first two miles and then.. the blisters came. These shoes do an awesome job at providing cushion. As someone who mostly trail runs and avoids road running at all costs, I am used to shoes where you feel the dirt and trail beneath you. It was a different experience feeling such an nice, cushy feel. I really liked the cushion on these shoes. The upper though, wasn't as stiff as I would like. I know the Cloud Flow provides better support and I would probably like those a bit better. I tend to overpronate and have a low arch, so they weren't the most comfortable after running a couple miles. The first couple were fine, but then I started developing a hot spot on the back of both my heels. After battling through it for a half mile, the backs of my heels were raw blisters. Not fun. I ended up running a half mile barefoot on grass and then switched over to other shoes for the last 3 miles. Overall, they are fine shoes for casual wear. They might be okay if you have a different heel shape than me (I have a slightly narrower heel that is straight up with almost no curve). I know that I'll never run in these again though haha I usually wear a 7.5 in shoes and I wore a 7.5 in these ones. I could probably have done an 8 and been fine, but the 7.5 also felt like a good fit. In the other models though, they definitely run a half size or full size small.

Serious cushion, when in play.

Familiarity:

I'm not doing 5 stars, since I just demoed these. So, standing around, trying these on, they didn't feel particulary soft to me. I run in Altras and Hokas, so I thought there was no way that they'd have enough cushion. Weird thing though. As soon as I started walking, they did have a cloud effect, just like my Altras and Hokas, but without all that height. So, I'm incredibly impressed. I'm already recommending these to people and plan to get a pair asap. For sizing, they definitely run small. This style runs maybe 1/2 size small. Another style I tried was probably 1 full size small. So, size up.

Would these be suitable for hard pack rail trail running? I wonder if the loose stones might get stuck in the holes of the shoes.
