We hit the trail with the lightweight coverage of the On Running Cloudrock Hiking Boot. This running shoe hiking boot hybrid is built to balance weight savings and coverage to keep you moving forward on the trail. A breathable mesh upper is backed by a membrane that keeps weather out while wicking moisture off of your foot. Under that, the Speedboard and Zero-Gravity Cloudtec provide a cushioned and soft ride. Finally the Missiongrip outer blends bite and traction to keep you upright on slippery, dusty, and rocky trails.

Handsome boots, but useless in winter

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I bought these because I really enjoy my On Cloud X running shoes, and liked the idea of a waterproof boot for winter with the plush cushioning of my running shoes. These look and feel comfortable, and definitely have the cushioning that I expected. However, the first issue I have with them is that they are not waterproof. I?ve been wearing these for the past several months throughout the winter season, and was recently disappointed to feel my feet get damp after walking through some fresh powder from a relatively light snow storm. The second issue I have is that the sole has worn considerably over the short period of time that I?ve owned them. I?ve only worn them to go to the office and running errands. At the end of the day, these are some good looking and very comfortable boots that fail to live up to their promise of being waterproof, and aren?t really as durable and you?d hope a $200+ pair of boots would be.

I work on movies on me feet 12+ hours a day. My feet usually don?t like shoes for about a week not the case with these at all. I wear between an 8.5 and 9 I bought the nines. I haven?t tested them in water yet but I didn?t buy them for that application I have goretex boots for that.

Disappointed

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

Could not wait to try these boots. Was very disappointed in the small sizing length and width of shoe was not remotely true to size. The boots also felt heavier and more like a rubber boot than I anticipated. Would not recommend. I will be returning for refund.

Not waterproof

Nice cross between trail runner and light boot, but I just took a 3 mile hike with some wet leaves and ended up with some very wet socks. The fabric absorbed water quickly, in the toe and sides of the shoe.

Light/Super Comfortable for Speed Hiking

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

These waterproof Trail running and Speed Hiking boots, are quite amazing. They are Very lightweight for a waterproof hiking boot. They have a good amount of cushion, but it's been stiffened up to cope with a harsher terrain, when speed hiking or trail running/walking. They have a nice roomy/wider front toe area, so that there is no uncomfortable rubbing of your foot while hiking. They have an all around stiffer rigidity to the boot body for carrying heavier backpack loads, while maintaining stability. The lower half is completely wrapped in a touch abrasion resistant material to protect the shoe. I have scuffed up against numerous grounded branches, sides of rocks, and just about everything else. They took a licking without damaging the core shoe, which is very important. The waterproofing is 100% reliable, because I have tried submerging these shoes in stream crossing water up to my ankle, for a solid minute. I had zero water penetrate into the shoe or get my sock wet. These just work. I recommend these shoes for specific areas: Trail walking/running, light hiking, and speed hiking. I would not buy these as a dedicated heavy hiking boot, because they just are not setup for that. That's when you would want a very rugged and heavy hiking boot. Use the right tool for the right job, right!? thanks P.S. I wanted to mention, that the sizing runs true to size to slightly larger. I typically buy a 10.5 in a sneaker and an On running shoes, but I wear a 10 in regular boots and hiking boots. I bought these in a 10.5 thinking they would run like a sneaker, but they run more like a true boot/hiking boot. So make sure you get the right size for what you wear in a hiking boot or regular boot. I didn't need to send these back, but I could have worn a 10. I have about a thumbs width left at the toe.
