    Moloa Kohana Shoe

Life is short. Every minute wasted tying shoes really adds up. Olukai's Moloa Kohana Shoe for Men is ready when you are; the versatile Drop-In Heel folds underneath your heel when you don't even have the time, or the energy, to bend over and use your finger as a shoe horn. Each Moloa Kohana is hand-sewn with whip-stitching and elastic gore.  'Moloa Kohana' is Hawaiian for 'lazy man's shoe.'

    My GO-2 shoe!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: usually 10
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 170lbs

I first bought these shoes because they resembled the Sanuk shoe (the cool surfer/skate style shoe). I had a pair of Sanuk's at one point and was disappointed because of how cheaply made they were. They wore out way too fast and I was looking for a durable shoe that had this same style. Well, I found them because these shoes last me about a year with literally everyday use. I think they run a tad big and are made out of leather so they stretch out in about 2-3 months. I went down a full size of my regular size and once they stretch out they fit like a glove. This is my 4th pair. Please don't discontinue these shoes!

    These are Not Wool Lined

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

I ordered these to replace my Moloa Kohana shoes I purchased here last year. My original Moloa's were wool lined and I wore them almost everyday this fall/winter. When I saw this version was ventilated AND had a wool liner I thought they would be a great shoe to wear this summer without socks. However they are not lined at all.

It looks like Olukai is now offering a new Moloa Kohana Fall that features the wool liner.

They are still nice looking. The foot bed is comfortable. And the ventilation keeps my feet cool. I will wear them with light socks, but since they do not have a wool sock liner, I am hesitant to wear them barefoot.

    Great Utility Shoe

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

This is my second pair of this style shoe. I got this one because of the perforated top. It makes a big difference in hot, humid Georgia. I find them exceptionally comfortable and true to fit. I put 5 miles on them on the streets of Santa Cruz, CA this weekend without any problems. No blister or even hot spots, and I didn't wear socks. They are not hugely supportive so I would not do any extended trail hiking.

    Great Casual Shoe

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I bought these just before a trip to Europe, primarily with the thought they would be great for the airport and plane ride. Indeed, the flip down heel is perfect for the mad dash through security where you have to take off the shoes. On a 9 hour flight, they were like slippers, nice and cozy and easy to take off to let the piggies breathe. The merino lining keeps the sweat factor low...and no detectable odor after many day of wear. They are great work-casual shoes and are good for around the office. I would not recommend them for long days of walking. I wore them one day sightseeing around Paris and they almost broke my spirit. Not enough support for chalking up the miles, but perfect for less ambitious (slacker) pursuits.
