Loon 126 Recreational Kayak

There might not be snow-peaked mountains or desert canyons where you live, but there's still plenty to see and do in your neck of the woods. You're more than happy to spend your free time in the Old Town Loon 126 Kayak, whether you're checking out an unexplored watering hole along a wooded river, or returning yet again to your favorite lake and taking this kayak's namesake to heart checking on your town's famous pair of loons.

The feature-rich Loon 126 wants you to thoroughly enjoy your time on the water, so it features Old Town's top-of-the-line Active Comfort System 2.0 seat a padded, adjustable, ventilated, and supportive seating system for long-lasting comfort when you're spending hours a day out on the water, and it doesn't stop there. A removable storage deck sits before the cockpit, with a cup holder for your pop and spots to store tackle or lures if you decide to go angling. A gasket-sealed box comes USB-ready so you can add a battery for keeping your phone or GPS charged when you're exploring uncharted river-ways. And while it knows you enjoy these bells and whistles, it still keeps performance in mind, a sharp keel gives you increased tracking when you've got your eyes set on some distant shore, three cuts at the bow increase wind resistance so you're not tossed about on your way there, and the adjustable foot braces and thigh pads ensure you have a precise fit in the cockpit for better control as you hone in on your destination.

Best Money Ever Spent!

I bought my Old Town Loon years ago and cannot say enough about the great quality, comfort and endurance. She’s like a reliable best friend. In the years to come, I will add another kayak perhaps better suited for the ocean, but I will never sell her or keep her dry for too long. I highly recommend the Old Town Loon model to all fellow paddlers!

Quick and agile

I have 5 different kayaks. The Loon126 ihas been my favorite since I got it three years ago. Oly "problem" is that when I provide the yaks, I take whatever is left. Never is the Loon126. The look for first time user. After that it just because it is comfortable boat and good hull design.

Great allround kayak

I've bought my Loon 126 in April of 2020 and have put many miles one it in all kinds of conditions. I'm very happy with the quality of the kayak, I broke the paddle clip last year and called Old Town and they shipped me a replacement no questions asked. So costumer service is excellent as well. You will not regret this kayak!

Exceeds Expectations

I have owned this Kayak for 6 months, and have 100 river\lake miles on the yak. I did my research, and kept coming back to the Loon 126. Comfortable, stable, and so good looking! I'm 6'1", 225lbs and the kayak cockpit still seems big. The seat is crazy comfortable. The work station is great. I do a good deal of video - it is so convenient to have quick access to cameras, and accy's - the charging cable is handy. On longer floats\paddles, if battery life is an issue, is plug my portable battery in, and then plug in phone or camera and have easy access to power. Kayak handles waves white caps with ease. As you can tell- I love this Kayak.

Outstanding!!

I bought my first kayak this summer. This past May, I purchased the Old Town Loon 126. I’m a heavy guy and I needed a long kayak with a high weight rating to carry me across water while giving me peace of mind. This Loon 126 did just that! The Loon 126 is a sturdy kayak with a comfortable seat, and never once did the Loon 126 make me doubt the quality of the kayak! The Loon 126 sits high off of the water and it is wide enough to make me feel very confident while cruising through lakes. I’ve visited numerous lakes across Pennsylvania and paddled across each lake successfully! Just last week I visited Erie, Pennsylvania. I paddled the Loon 126 across Presque Isle Bay from the Perry Monument to the Bicentennial Tower on mainland Erie. A strong wind from the East was blowing and the water was the most choppy water that I’ve ever experienced, but I made it across the Bay in the Loon 126 with no problems!! I then paddled around on Lake Erie... and again, no problems! I’d like to continue my quest to visit the remaining 4 Great Lakes, and of course, I’m going to paddle the small lakes in between. Thank you, Old Town, for creating such a quality vessel that gives me the confidence to get out on the water for a little bit of exercise, fun and adventure!

QUESTION - Portable child seat or bench

I am ordering this kayak because of the large size of the cockpit so I can on occasion bring my young son with me in comfort. I will not do this enough to justify having a tandem. I realize another model has availability of an add-on child bench. Why not this one?? Has anyone found an aftermarket option?

Disappointing Tracking

I bought this kayak Fall 2018. While it is beautiful and comfortable, it is hands down the worst tracking kayak I've owned. The slightest breeze will have you expending so much energy to keep it going straight. The front carry handle also comes apart every time I use it. If they offered a factory rudder option and improved the carry handles, it would be the perfect boat.

Fast and Stable

I sold my 16 year old Loon 138 and replaced it with a Loon 126 and rigged it for fishing. It doesn't have as much room as the old Loon 138 but is lighter, much faster, tracks better and is very stable. The removable work deck even has a track I mounted my fish finder on. The seat is very comfortable. The 16 year Loon 138 had great resale value and I expect years from now the 126 also will as both are made from the same durable material.

Comfy!

I received this as a Christmas gift from my husband! It is our 5th old town kayak! We have two other of the higher quality ones but this one is even better! We live in Minnesota so.i haven't been on the water yet but I did sit in it and it is so comfortable! I can feel the quality put into this kayak! The cockpit is large enough for me, my cocker spaniel and shorkie to all fit! I love the dry Wells! The fit a of the covers are amazing and will definitely keep items dry! As much as I love my Midwest winter's I am looking forward to spring this year to get out in my new toy!!!

Love it!

I bought the Loon 126 last year as an upgrade to my old Loon 138. The Loon 138 was a great kayak but the 126 is even better. First is is lighter than the 138 but nothing was sacrificed going to a shorter kayak. The removable work deck is very handy. The new adjustable seat is very very comfortable extending time you spend on the water. The Loon 126 is fast, stable and tracks well. I didn't get the angler model and chose to rig it myself. I could not be happier with the Loon 126. And since it is still 3 layer technology it should last forever! Can you add a 6th star?
