Why We Like The Loon 106 Angler Kayak

Sure, we could sit on the shore with all the other noodlers and bait fisherman lobbing chicken legs and chartreuse cheese into the drink, or we could saddle up on the Old Town Loon 106 Angler Kayak and paddle out to where the fish are actually feeding. Designed with anglers in mind, the Loon 106 is made from durable three-layer polyethylene with a wide, flat hull for a stable feel and sharp keel line for better tracking and efficient glide on glassy lakes. A removable work deck with a USB charging device bring this boat into the 21st century—just throw a battery in the compartment, connect it to the USB, and we can be sure our phone has juice when the perfect photo op presents itself.

Great comfort!

The ACS 2 seat and the total comfort of the Loon 106 cannot be beat!! I was able to paddle this craft for 3 hours only 8 weeks after lower lumbar back surgery with zero pain or discomfort. A big thanks to the Old Town company for the ACS 2 seat design that helped me get back on the water so soon after surgery. I couldn't have done it without this design!! THANK YOU!!!

The perfect fishing Kayak

I have been a canoe owner for many years, However, I bought this Kayak 2 weeks ago, and went out on a high mountain lake last weekend where it was quite breezy. It was so stable and handled effortlessly. I felt confidant as I leaned over to scoop fish out of the water to take off my hook. The compartments were easily accessible as was the paddle latch. I had my water bottle right where I needed it, and both my spinner and fly rods were conveniently ready to grab with the pole slots. Its got all the bells and whistles I need to fish comfortably; the seat is wonderfully supportive. I may never use my canoe again. Its FABULOUS!

GREAT KAYAK!

This is my second season using this kayak, and I couldn't be happier with it, its light enough for me to shoulder it and walk a ways with it, it's stable enough, that I can actually stand up in it, though I wouldn't try to stand and fish, but a more balanced person may. I don't normally fish from this one,(I have a topwater 120 for that) I mainly use it on rivers, and have put about 150 paddled miles on it so far, even class ll(lll) rivers and felt like was going to tip on me. The bulkhead and work deck storage stay dry! I would recommend this kayak to anyone looking for a high quality rec. Kayak!

Great boat

Suits my needs very well. I fished out of a Field and stream Eagle 12 for the last eight years. As I’ve gotten older (66) the heavier, longer kayak became an issue for me. I was nervous about the 106 and considered the Loon 126. Definitely a trade off. But I’m very happy with the shorter boat. Much easier to put in my pickup. Old Town makes a fabulous product. Super features. I fish mostly small ponds in NH and Maine. Don’t need any extra speed a longer boat might provide. The Loon 106 moves we’ll and tracks just fine. Love the seat. Storage compartment comes in handy. I highly recommended this kayak for anyone looking to upgrade.

Smooth Paddling

I bought the Loon106 Angular about a month ago. I hadn't paddled in years and this was an easy fit. It tracks straight and glides across the water with little effort, even into a strong wind. The seat is perfect on the back and you can stay out for hours with little discomfort. I'm looking forward to longer trips to explore the many rivers in my area.

Great and comfortable kayak

I just bought two of these. One urban and one camo. Very comfortable seats. I have roughly 10 hours on these with the longest trip so being about 3 hours and we weren't the least bit sore. I was having issues with the adjustments for the seat on the camo color but they seem to be working themselves out with some use. Adjusting the back rest is a little rough to do while in the kayak since you have to turn the adjustment knob a lot before you can actually move it. No issues with the adjustments on the urban one. Plenty of room inside the cockpit and easy foot adjustments. The sealed compartments are great but when the kayak is flipped and submerged they will get a little wet inside. This was after about 30 minutes of flipping intentionally and trying to flip it back over and then being towed to the shallows. Flipping it in the shallows and getting it back up right fairly quickly and through rain and splashing they have been bone dry. Very stable kayak. I had to work a little bit to get mine to flip. We can also hang our legs outside the cockpit comfortably and stable. They track through the water very smooth and straight. Does great paddling backwards too. The urban color hides scratches a lot better than the camo. Im very happy with the purchase of these kayaks. I only wish i had bought them earlier.

Awesome Kayak! And we don't even fish!

We purchased two angler kayak's, simply because that was the model in stock at the time. We liked the angler colors better anyway. We are very happy with the quality, and all of the amazing features. The seat is the most comfortable you can get. We both have back problems, and were able to spend two hours on the water without a problem. My husband is 6'2" 220 pounds, and he has plenty of room for his legs. He feels comfortable in the 106 and the smaller size is convenient too. I only wish there was an option for a different size skeg.
