ODLO kinship light
- Familiarity:

I was given this gear from Backcountry but this review is my personal opinion. I received the ODLO Kinship light long baselayer bottom in size large in the grey malange color. For reference, I am 5ft9, 185lbs, size 32 waist. I have thicker legs and some junk in the trunk so finding clothing can be tricky at times. Usually in long underwear I wear medium. Even according to the size chart I could have gotten away with a medium but I truly appreciate that they sent me a large. I would say that if I had gone down a size, that they would be extremely snug. While long underwear is supposed to be tight, it doesn't need to cut circulation off. I would highly suggest sizing up if you're on the upper end of your size range. They don't hang off my body, and they are extremely comfortable. Getting into the tech of the garment, in the picture, you see dark stripes on the ODLO kinship light long baselayer. Those stripes are actually air vents/perforations that help the garment breathe. There are also perforations lining the groin area that aren't as noticeable but I think could pay dividends after doing high output activities all day. These are definitely on the lighter end of the spectrum regarding a base layer but I believe they would be perfect for mild dry climates or some spring riding. I would even consider taking them mountain biking under shorts in the winter. I must reiterate that these are comfortable and not restricting so they appear to be a very versatile product. I did receive the ODLO kinship light long baselayer during summertime. As such, it is hard to give a full review regarding how I feel about them. Come winter time, I will update my review of them after some mountain bike riding and my first board trip. With that said, I am wearing them around the house in the AC. I have done some grout work in my shower with them, some cooking, and cleaning. While the ODLO kinship light long baselayer was not meant to do household chores like that, I was just seeing if I would overheat in them, see if they annoyed me or felt restrictive or the material was weak. The material appears to be made really well. While these warm up quickly in the house, they vent well and I did not get sweaty just doing household chores. They move with you and are not very noticeable. If you are looking for a light baselayer, these should be on your radar.

Great lightweight piece
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- L
- Weight:
- 170
Given this product through backcountry, but my personal review. Kinship baselayer is a great technical piece. Breathes well on runs in shoulder season or active winter sports . It will definitely be a staple of my Nordic trips come snow season. I would recommend sizing up if in between sizes, as the athletic cut is slightly shorter/smaller than I am used to. High quality material that will surely withstand the beating of endurance athletes, while providing great lightweight protection from the elements. Highly recommend along with the longsleeve top!
