I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I received the ODLO AXALP Trail ½ zip in the steel gray in a size large. For reference I am 5’8 185lbs broad shoulders and a 41” chest and then taper down. Most clothes I am usually a medium or large. The large fits like a slim fit shirt and I would say by looking at their size chart that this is completely accurate fitting true to size. While the shirt fits slim, it is not constricting and I have plenty of room to move and the shirt moves with me. The shirt has a light and airy feel to it right off the bat and the material is comfortable against the skin. I am not one to usually wear a shirt with a zipper but keeping the zipper down all the way, I didn’t even notice it. The shirt has vents in the size which allows the shirt to breathe even more which is a blessing. The shirt has two pockets in the back that are very small. I am assuming that they are for something small like an ID or a key. I would be cautious putting one key in there because I feel like it would fly out when moving but I have not tested this yet. I also feel like if you used this shirt for running you would feel a weird weight on the shirt bouncing up and down but again, I did not test this as of yet. The ODLO AXALP Trail ½ zip felt comfortable on my initial ride with it. I tested this shirt while mountain biking 10 miles one evening with a pack on. This shirt performed amazingly. It did not ride up or overly cling to me. Also, I sweat like no other. Usually, even my mountain biking shirts or t-shirts that I wear are just soaked and heavy. This shirt was soaked as well, but it did not feel like it retained near the amount of moisture and yet it still kept me cool. There was zero smell at the end of the ride which is nice as well because no one likes to be that person that smells to high heaven after a ride. No after ride drinks for you. I inspected the back of the shirt after the ride to see if the pack had caused an abrasions or pilling. The shirt held up well with no visible markings whatsoever. The shirt dried out quickly and while I did not do it this run, I feel like it would have stayed smell free for another ride without a wash. Speaking of wash, I washed the AXALP Trail ½ zip and tried it on after drying it. The AXALP Trail ½ zip had no pilling or tears and maintained its shape and size with no recognized shrinking. If someone is looking for a good riding shirt for the summer that needs something that dries quickly, is anti-odor, and is lightweight and airy, then I would highly recommend this shirt to them.
