High-quality safety that you can rely on.
Built to provide improved protection and comfort on whitewater, the NRS WRSI (Whitewater Research and Safety Institute) Current Pro Helmet has more safety features than its younger sibling (the NRS Current Helmet). This multi-impact shell utilizes ABS plastic, polyurethane, and an EVA liner to dissipate impacts from trees and rocks. The Interconnect Retention System features nine EVA pads with different thicknesses to provide a completely customizableand very comfortable fit for any sized dome. The Current Pro also features removable ear pads that provide extra warmth and reduce impacts from waves, and the visor keeps rainfall and sunlight out of your eyes.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
The new outfitting is pretty sweet. For those who the helmet fits... One exception is the flimsy plastic buttons that attach the outfitting to the shell. They do not seem like they are built to last.
Unfortunately, WRSI/NRS missed the mark on their new sizing for 2017. Every whitewater kayak/rafting helmet manufacturer maxes out their helmets at 62cm This includes the new WRSI helmets. I contacted NRS a few years ago, after they bought WRSI, and was told that they are going to address this very problem- people who need a helmet bigger than 62cm (of which there are many). Clearly, several years later they still haven't done this.
Given WRSI's "story/ (supposed) mission" that they use in their marketing, it's pretty disappointing and frustrating have ignored and continue to ignore such a significant void in the whitewater safety market.
