Why We Like The Jack's Plastic Paco Grande Sleeping Pad

The NRS Jack's Plastic Paco Grande Sleeping Pad provides a dry, comfortable night's sleep throughout the most arduous river trips. It might not stop us from rolling into the river while sleeping, but the welded, industrial-strength PVC pouch keeps sleeping bags from getting soggy. This self-inflating foam pad also takes just a minute to take shape and then four minutes to deflate, making setting up and taking down camp is a breeze.

Watch out for wrong product

I ordered this grande 3” Paco pad and was sent one where the foam was barely 2” thick. I believe the tag was checked off incorrectly at the manufacturer. Probably an easy mistake. Thankfully backcountry is a good company to order from as I explained the situation and they sent me a second one right away. Sure enough, the second one they sent was way thicker at 3”. So make sure you are getting the one you ordered and measure your pad.

You get what you pay for

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

These are the most comfortable and durable sleeping pads you can get. I much prefer the softer density of the foam in the 3" Paco's to that of the 2". We use ours for camping in the back of the car, sleeping directly on the ground (small rocks are unnoticeable), raft camping, sleeping on friend's floors, hanging out at the park, seating at outdoor concerts. They roll up fairly tight (if you have some patience) and the straps make carrying them much like your standard cheap camp chairs. We have had ours for more than 5 years and other than a couple of cosmetic scuffs from strapping to the raft they are just like the day we got them.
