Why We Like The Rebel 3 Mountain Bike Shoe
Combining exceptional breathability and responsive stiffness, the Rebel 3 Mountain Bike Shoe is among our top picks for XC spins and big days linking ridgeline trails in the high alpine. This clip-in shoe utilizes a carbon-reinforced sole for added stiffness, improving power transfer as you clamber up precarious climbing sections. Perforations throughout the upper allow heat to quickly release, making the Rebel 3’s perfect for hot days.

Beware the laces don't wear
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
My shoes are the Rebel 2 which are generally fine MTB shoes but the laces don't last. If the Rebel 3 laces are the same (textile, not wire like Boa) they wear out fast. After 9 months of use, still inside the 1yr warranty both laces were nearly worn through. One did break (before I got replacements). Luckily there is enough lace in the spool to tie the ends together and carry on. The bugger is NW expects one to pay $10 per piece of string in a set of 2, or $20 for laces that won't last 9 months of use. After pleading my case multiple times by email NW did comp me a pair. So if you use your shoes and keep them for 3-5 years you'll likely end up paying a significant fraction of the original purchase price just for pieces of string (unless you don't mind tying multiple knots).
