When chest hair just isn't cutting it.

That robust clump of fur residing on your chest may earn you bro points in the hot tub, but it's a pretty poor excuse for a midlayer, so count on the Norrona Men's Trollveggen Warm Wool1 Full-Zip Hoodie when you need something, well, a bit more substantial. Norrona crafted this fleece midlayer from a combination of breathable wool, durable polyester, and nylon to deliver excellent thermal regulation, quick-drying performance, and anti-odor properties. The slim fit allows this piece to be worn either as a baselayer or midlayer, depending on conditions, and the full front zip means you can quickly open things up when that squirrel on your chest needs a breath of fresh air.

Good aerobic piece, but very light

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: xl
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 205lbs

I am 6'2" 205 and the XL fit perfectly. Good Norrona quality with the traditional European zipper positioning. I use this as a running cover over a long sleeved shirt in 30 to 40 degree morning temperatures. It works well during exercise, but is very light and I become cold almost immediately after stopping physical activity. Needs to be paired with a technical shell if one plans to use this over extended periods. No hand pockets or hood drawstring.

    Good Base Layer

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 160lbs

Warm without being too hot. Great piece.
Be aware that it has a slim fit that lends itself to being used as a base layer or as a light weight mid-layer over a silk/light weight t-shirt.
Because of friction and snug fit - I would never pair with a mid-weight base-layer. Find it too binding. One limitation.

    Warmth/Weight Balance

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm 5'9" 175 and the medium fits nicely although you should probably be in pretty good shape if you want to use the zipper. I'll use this as my every-day hoodie or under my waterproof shell for skiing. Could probably use some more pockets.

    Great all round piece

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 180lbs

At first I figured this would be a nice mid layer to use while backcountry snowboarding. The wool in the fabric and Euro fit was what I was after. Features like thumb loops and close fitting hood was what sold me.
I found I wear it all the time now, it looks good enough to be worn into town without looking like I'm in baselayers yet. While its warm enough I use it to hike in with a light baselayer underneath and slap a shell on for the way down.
My favorite fleece\midlayer or whatever you want to call it.
The large fits longer but slender for tall athletic builds. Some might think its tight in forearm but its perfect for me!
