    Great pants.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: xl /reg
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 210lbs

Just came in mail and I am wearing them as I write this review.I wear a 36W/ 32L pant and I bought the XL regular. The fit is good ,could use a little more room between waist and inseam. The length appears to be about 33/34 a bit long but should seat well over boots. My plan is to try them spring skiing this weekend in about 30 - 50 degree weather. The quality is great and the material moves freely. Will update later.

    Great Outdoor Activity Pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm 6'4" and the pants are one of the few that are actually long enough to fit well with trail running shoes or boots. The lace hooks are a great feature. I have had several hikes in the rain, muddy, less than ideal conditions and they have kept the pants over my shoes and debris, snow, and rocks out. The material has proven to be highly water resistant and yet stretches and breathes (even without ventilation zips) well enough to still be comfortable. I have had them in single digit temps with tights and 60-70 degrees comfortably on the trail. Great pair of multipurpose pants to have in the bag.

    Rock solid winter pants

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: M/Reg
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 165lbs

Bought these for a late fall hiking trip to Yellowstone. I was glad I got them because it was snowing/freezing rain the entire week. These held up perfectly, I didn't need to take them off nearly the entire time I was there. The boot lace hooks were an unexpected plus.

One thing I will say is there are no explicit ventilation zips, which throw them out of the ski touring category. At that, $200 is a good chunk of cash for pants I will only use for hiking but these are crazy high quality and have a decent warranty.

Great pant for hiking and snowshoeing

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I have used these on my last two hikes and the pants performed fantastic. One hike in the rain and the other in freezing temps both times I was warm and dry along with a under layer, very durable and not restrictive.

    Great Outdoor Utility Pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I have only used these for hiking and climbing, and have even started using them for casual use to keep my legs warm on cold nights, but these definitely are great pants to have. Warm, durable, water resistant, flexible/non-restricting, overall comfortable pants to wear. These are great for any outdoor adventure you may find yourself in. I suspect they would also make great ski/snowboarding pants, but I have yet to try them out in this function. This combined with the Trollveggen Stretch Tights would make an excellent snow combination I feel. I will try it out next time I get a chance to go skiing.

How will these hold up as alpine ski pants? Are they water resistant enough?

Looking at these for downhill ski pants. How will they hold up in wet conditions?

Are these pants available in medium? I am 5'11" and weigh 185lbs with a 34" waist. I think that the large will be to big on me.

I agree with you. I think that the Large would be too baggy on you and the Mediums would fit you perfectly. We should hopefully be getting these restocked in the next couple weeks so please keep checking back as we should be getting your size in shortly.

I'm trying to figure out what size I should go with on these. I am 5'10, 160lbs, 32 waist, and 30 inseam. I want a more athletic fit without it being too baggy. I fit in a Medium in most pants but feel it might be too big in these. What should I do?

Normally I would call that a medium too but Norrona's sizing is a little different as you can see from the chart listed with this product page. I would suggest a small in the Norrna Svalbard Flex1 Softshell Pant for you.

    Hey Shawn Cash,

You said you have a 32" waist and you use the Medium in these pants. Do they fit really loose around the waist for you, or do they fit reasonably well with a little adjustment to the waist straps? Thanks.

Not Shawn Cash, but my two cents - I have these - i am a 33 and the pants fit me perfect (at least how I like them to fit) - if you are a true 32 the waist straps will be adjust just fine - if you like a Patagonia/Westcomb sizing (running a bit large) keep in mind these are euro fit (which I like cuz there isn't extra material flapping away)...for my money Norrona (as far as fit) and Westcomb (as far as materials) are where it is at these days

I am 32 waist and 32 inseam. What size should I go for? Mtks..

A small would fit your 32" waist, but only measures 30.5 inseam (it also appears to be out of stock), A medium has a waist measurement of about 34", with a 31.5 inseam.

A medium would probably fit fine, although it might also be excessively loose around the waist. Norrona products tend to fit smaller.

I am a 32" waist and 30 inseam and I use a medium and they work just fine. If you are feared that you will have too much waist space remember that these pants can be tightened up 2 different ways: waist straps are provided on the pants, and they have belt loops! I would not go small because of your inseam, go medium:)

I'm curious about the accuracy of the colors depicted in the photos of these pants. I saw a video on the Norrna website of the "supernova" color, which looked darker and more grayish then the still pics. In particular, I'd like to know if "space" is a good representation, or if the actual color is closer to navy or something other shade of blue.any help would be appreciated.
