I considered returning this because it's paper thin but I'm glad I kept it. I use the jacket for running, cycling, and around the house/town. This jacket is very breathable, lightweight, and packable. It is excellent for adding a little extra warmth. I would hesitate to wear this as an outerlayer if there's good chance that the jacket will come in contact with branches, rocks or other things that might cause a tear. This is definitely more of a midlayer as advertised. My only complaint is that the jacket tends to hold odor so it must be washed after one or two wears. This is great for running, especially long runs when the temps vary. It's so lightweight and packable that it's no big deal to throw it into my hydration vest. I haven't used this as an outer layer under my hydration vest as I'm afraid it wouldn't hold up to direct rubbing against the vest. This jacket works great when it rains and I need an extra layer but it's too warm to run in a rain jacket. For cycling, this works best either as a midlayer or an outerlayer when I just need a little extra warmth with breathability. The fit is slim enough that there's only a little flapping on the upper arm when cycling.
