I bought this pair of bibs to replace another pair (Marmot La Meije) that were billed as primarily for out-of-bounds and on the first day they ripped while sitting and binding up in one of the nearby passes (there are no benches out-of-bounds). Within two months it ripped again, zippers fell apart (the big teeth zippers) Needless to say I was looking for a new pair. The Norronas are on target: more robust outer layer, it is thicker than the Marmot's. Heavier but between sturdiness and weight, I'd rather have sturdiness. Sizing is correct. The level of attention to detail in the Norrona's is awesome: gaiters, pockets, bib extension. At the sale price are really hard to beat. UPDATE: First day out. 40 mph winds in one of the nearby passes. Flat light, sinking a lot because of visibiity. Wind was not an issue, dry at the car. Happy as a clam.
