The Men's Lofoten Shell is Norrona's most versatile freeride jacket for powder hounds both in and out of the resort. Its Gore-Tex Pro shell provides guaranteed waterproofing that remains extremely breathable for fast-moving skiers and snowboarders. The Lofoten also features a removable powder skirt that buttons into Snap-Seal compatible pants for extra security, and X-open ventilation uses two-way zippers at each underarm to vary how much airflow you need.
A Zip-Seal system allows you to zip the Lofoten into Zip-Seal compatible pants for complete coverage. The adjustable hood has a wired brim to stay out of eyesight, and the inner hand gaiters have thumbholes to secure the sleeves. Norrona designed the Lofoten with Y-sleeves for a full range of motions, and a drawcord at the hem and hook-and-loop cuffs ensure proper coverage. Because Backcountry.com is Norrona's exclusive retailer, you might be the only one in the backcountry and at the ski resort styling this colorful jacket.

- Q & A
Might not be what the jacket was designed for, but it kept me warm at 0 degrees with a 100mph wind. It also works great for skiing. Skied several days in all conditions and I haven't found any faults yet.
Included snow skirt with snaps
Fits perfectly to Norrona ski pants (or use zippered snow skirt that comes with the pants for those heavy powder days).
hand gaiters a bit tight
cuts somewhat into my hands, especially after putting on my snug Norrona Dry1 gloves
Lofoten Pro Active in AK!
this is last season's Bamboo Green colorway on a heli trip in the Chugach National Forest!
Been a long time Arcteryx user, but Norrona is my new go to for shells.
Large jacket fits perfect. 5'11.5" and 183lbs.
Medium pants fit good with a 34 inch waist.
The color coordination is awesome.

Will you get more of the New Ink Medium in stock?
Unfortunately we don't have any more on order at the moment, sorry about that!
How warm is the shell?
What temperatures are too low to wear this shell?
I wear it in literally all temperatures and I'm a skinny girl with no body fat. So that says a lot. It's warm af. Just wear a hoody underneath and you'll be toasty.
Does this jacket have hand warmer pockets?
It does not have hand warmer pockets. It has two huge front pockets, and when paired with the Lofoten bibs, I find I've got ample storage.
At 6'2, 185... any chance a medium would work for me? Looking for something fitted but long enough to snowboard with. 41" chest. I had an arcteryx theta AR and the large bulked up a ton with a pack on.
It may work for you, but it may be a bit too short depending on your torso length. What I suggest doing is purchasing a Medium and a Large so that you can compare sizes and go with the one that best fits you and return the jacket that doesn't work out.

I'd suggest Large, it's a trim fit. For reference, I'm 6"2 185 and wearing a large in the detail photos above.
Can a down midlayer like arc'teryx thorium or Patagonia sweater work under this? Mostly for resort skiing in Maine/ New Hampshire.
Either of those will work just great!
