Lofoten Pockets Leak
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: XL
To whom it may concern: On Thursday, 02/16/2017, I received my Norrona Lofoten Jacket. I wore it skiing four times and loved it. However, I went for a long walk in the rain today, 10/29/2017, and both front pockets leaked. At the end of the walk I had about 2cm of water at the bottom of each of the two front pockets and my apple iphone was partially ruined. The phone starts up but the screen is now partially fuzzy where water leaked in. I'm very disappointed as apparently the zippers for both front pockets leak, which must be a design flaw. Now I wonder if the other zippers will leak as well. I expect better from a $700 jacket. The zippers should not leak water and I should be able to wear this in a storm with confidence. I'm taking this jacket on a trek to Mount Everest in three weeks and I'm now worried.
I hope you will correct this issue.
"Hi! Thank you for your message. Unfortunately, the lofoten jacket have not waterproof zippers. The only jackets we have whit waterproof zippers are recon gore-tex jacket and the trollveggen gore-tex Pro jacket. Our lofoten gore-tex jackets have an inner pocket on the chest that is made for having your phone in. I will recommend you use that instead of having it in the front pockets where water can leak in. This is not a fault in the design it is just that the jackets not have waterproof zippers. The reason why we don’t have the waterproof zippers in these jackets it that the jacket will lose the lightweight impression and also feel stiffer due aqua seal zippers. Most of our jackets (except Trollveggen gxt and Recon gxt) are equipped with water resistant zippers (not waterproof). Therefore we recommend stashing your cell phone in the designated pocket on the inside of the jacket, in order to prevent moisture damage.
Wishing you a great day!
Does this jacket attach to the pants? Does that replace the bib on the pants or the snowskirt on the jacket? Thanks.
