    The gram-counters will be pleased.

Norrona's lightweight Falketind Dri Short Glove offers a surprising amount of warmth and protection despite its super-light weight. A Dri 1 insert gives this glove waterproof breathable protection that's rated higher than most ski jackets, and Flex 1 softshell fabric ensures mobility and breathability when you're mountaineering. Despite its midweight insulation, the Falketind compresses compactly into backpacks.

Favorite glove but don't wash it

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These gloves have not only been one of my favorite gloves but were fighting for the title of favorite piece of gear ever. They're extremely lightweight and waterproof, and I found them plenty warm for Sierra adventures.
Then one day I washed them. The liner came out and I literally spent hours getting them back in. Even then they didn't quite feel the same. On my next tour when I pulled my hands out the liners came out with them (this didn't happen before the washing). At this point I couldn't deal so I cut the liners out. There are actually two liners, one fleece and one sort of latex-like membrane, and that's why you can't get the liners back in after washing.
So, in short, buy these gloves but only wash them by hand and hang dry them.
I would say they are fairly true to size but with longish fingers.

    Norrøna Falketind Dri Short Glove

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Decent glove... if you have $ to spend probably Arcteryx Rush is a better choice but for 1/2 price value is hard to beat.

    Very Thin

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I ordered these gloves to replace my main ski gloves that were delamming on the thumbs (too much wiping I guess). Specs list the Falkentind as mid-weight insulation. Since I never have a problem with cold fingers, I thought mid weight would be fine. When I received the gloves I was surprised how thin and lightweight they are. Next to no insulation at all. I have not used them and plan to return, so I can't be certain. But would think they could keep hands warm in the mildest winter weather only. Since I didn't use them, I won't give a bad rating but will say listing them as mid weight is stretching the description.

    Nice pair of gloves

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These are very lightweight, waterproof, and warm. They seem to be made very well and I expect them to last a long time. Should be part of every backpacker's gear list.

    Watch the wind

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Not a bad glove, plenty warm for Tahoe skiing. I used these on a recent trip and they kept me dry and warm until the winds came. Things were fine when I was active but sitting on the lifts in 30 degree weather with 40 mph winds was a painful experience. The wind rips right through these gloves and after two rides on the lift I had to change to my back up gloves and all was well again. Maybe they would do better with a liner?

    Fit like a glove

Ok cheesy title, but that doesn't take away from these fantastic gloves. I wore them on a 13 mile hike in the rain - think PNW rain! We headed through snow too and the gloves kept my hands warm and dry. They are super light and comfortable even holding onto trekking poles. I ordered large since I usually have issues with thumbs sizing issues on medium gloves - I have noticed Norrøna products run a bit small.
