A waterproof, insulated parka with street style.

Instead of hibernating under twenty blankets when it's wet and cold outside, slide on the Women's /29 Gore-Tex Insulated Parka and meet your friends at the coffee shop, check out the holiday lights, build a snowman-family with your nieces, or go on your first sleigh ride. The /29's Gore-Tex shell gives this unique parka guaranteed waterproof breathable protection. Norrona stuffed this parka with 200g PrimaLoft Sport insulation that's insanely warm, wonderfully light, and incredibly soft so you don't feel weighed down.

Norrona made sure all these amazing features fit into a clean, sleek urban look. This parka has a long cut that offers extended coverage, and its huge hood shields your head from the cold. Not only do the inner gaiters keep the sleeves in place while you walk down the snowy sidewalks, but they turn into mittens for the ultimate warmth. If that's not enough for your fingers, then stuff them in the fleece-lined hand-warmer pockets for extra cozy warmth. So say goodbye to numb fingers, cold wrists, and wet clothes because this parka just became your best friend in cold, wet weather.

    Can't Even Zip This Coat...

I had high expectations for this coat. However, I was unable to zip the coat up while wearing it and had to spend minutes trying to zip it while it was on a table. I then had my husband (should be noted that he is a mechanical engineer) try to zip the coat while I was wearing it and after 5 minutes of trying to do so he said "this coat needs to go back!". If you purchase this coat and have luck zipping it up then perhaps you can share your technique with future buyers.

      Caviar color = black color

This caviar color is black, not dark blue as it looks on the picture. Other than that it is a really nice coat, but unfortunately due to the color variation I will have to return it.

        Weird hood

Loved everything about this coat and its details except the lining of the coat extends up around the left side of the face which looks odd. Plus, the zipper goes all the way around the hood. Yep, you can literally zip your head into the hood. Who would do that? It is a very flattering fit but the funky piece of lining on the one side plus it not being as warm as other coats...sadly I returned it. I would say this coat would be awesome in rainy, milder winter weather climates.

          Best Coat Ever

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
          • Fit: Runs large

I originally bought this coat in small a few years back, but it was too big. However, I still had a lot of use out if it. I then decided to buy the size smaller when it was back in stock and it is worth every cent - despite having had to pay twice. Warm, fitted, comfortable and great looking too. It is like wearing a sleeping bag. I would suggest buying the smaller size if you are in-between sizes.

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times
          • Fit: Runs small

I bought this jacket thinking it will keep me warm. For the price of this parka, it should keep me warm, block the wind from hitting my back & chest. My North Face is 100% warmer! You can not use this parka on windy days or anything below 30 F.

Hands down. This is the BEST JACKET I HAVE EVER PURCHASED.

Pricey, yes. But this is an investment piece I will keep forever. Warm, waterproof, full length and the best part is that it still looks good. I am happy, warm, dry and stylish. Check.

I just purchased this after an exhaustive search for the "perfect" coat for my wife. It certainly checks all the boxes. How cold (temp) have you tested the jacket? We're in Chicago, and walk everywhere so this is for cold, cold wind and snow. Thx.

I am from Chicago- and just wore this jacket to a Bears game in very cold temps and wore it all thru last winter (sub zero with wind chills) and am in love with it. I have tried a LOT of jackets and this first one I've owned that is Gore-Tex and Down- so waterproof and warm- this is great for midwest climates that aren't just cold, but wet. It's way better than any down jacket you'll get for a bit less money since the moment it gets wet, it takes forever to dry and soaks up the water like a sponge. The only thing I'd recommend is wearing a scarf with it since the zipper goes all the way up, it gets a bit cold when it's touching your skin. But a scarf solves that easily.

          Warm and Dry

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I purchased this jacket for my wife. It is well made and very warm. Our daughter ski races so she spend a ton of time standing still at the bottom of ski runs. The Gore-Tex keeps her dry and the PrimaLoft keeps her warm. With temperatures as low as 6* standing still watching kids race for 4 hours straight, she was still warm.

The forest green is a muted color but the neon green zippers pop. The wrist gaiters are nice a little piece of fabric pulls out and turns the wrist gaiters into mittens. All the trim and pulls of the jacket are neon green. The zipper goes all the way to the top of the hood. I am not sure she will every wear it zipped all the way up.

Regarding sizing: Below in a review JA says she ordered XL and is 5'll" 155 lbs. My wife happens to be 6' and 165lbs. She ordered the jacket in XL based on the review below and had to return it for a Large. She even has a little room to spare everywhere in the fit. My wife owns several Norrona jackets, fleece, long underwear and pants. Large is the size of all her other Norrona items.

          Almost perfect

I like this parka a lot, as I do most Norrona products, but I had a couple of issues. first of all, space color is kind of washed out boring looking color, unlike the rest of vibrant colored Norrona products. I guess it was meant for urban exploration. Secondly, I wish it was a little more tapered in the waist. kind of boxy looking, I almost thought I accidentlyreceived a guys' version. But my biggest issue is the collar/ neck area. Although I like the unusual look of the zipper going all the way up, the area is very restricting. When it gets cold, I like to have a high collar, where I hide my mouth and nose and not have to use a scarf or neck gaiter, but with this jacket I will still have to use my accessories. really tight, if you zip it over your mouth.all in all it is still a great jacket, the materials and craftsmanship are superb as always with Norrona. A while ago I bought Canada Goose Kensington and Mystique parka and while they warm, they are too heavyand bulky to carry around. and quite frankly, Canada goose doesn't make clothes for us tall monkey armed people, so I returned that. This jacket should accomodate long arms nicely, which is a huge plus.It is also spacey and has room to layer. Utilitarian value is definitely 5* minus the consticting collar. Just for the reference, I am 5'11" 155 lbs and got the XL and the length of this jacket comes to my mid thigh, well above my knees, arse well covered, warm and happy. Like another reviewer, tried it on inside my house and started sweating immediately. it is super warm, not bulky at all and packs beautifully, plenty of pockets in all the right places. could use a belt or so. I would recommend this for boys and girls with boxy bodies and real skinny necks and heads.

            I LOVE IT

I have not used this Parka yet because I live in Texas and it is over 100 degrees outside right now..It was purchased for a trip to Svalbard in September, BUT, I LOVE it and try it on everyday, walking around in my air conditioned home just waiting for cold weather. It is the perfect length and has pockets in all the right places. The neon green lining is amazing... Yes, it was more than I wanted to spend but it was worth every penny.

Bomber!!!! Norr?na /29 Gore-Tex Insulated Parka- You will never need another jacket again

This may seem like a hefty price to pay for a jacket that will most likely be worn as streetwear but let me tell you - it is well worth the investment. It is uber warm and will protect against any weather- especially in cold and wet/humid climates. The length is fantastic because it's a little longer and covers the mid-thigh. This jacket is incredibly burly but still manages to look cute and styley. I cannot express how much I love this jacket and am slightly sad that I won't be able to wear it until it gets cold again!

Is this jacket more form fitting or relaxed?

I am 5'5'' tall and around 125 lbs. Not sure if SMALL or MEDIUM would fit better.

Also, does the zipper on the front feel weird when zippered all the way under your chin when it is, say, windy?

Usually, coats have something protective under the chin, not to get your chin pinched or similar, and this jacket has a continuous zipper running all the way around the hood.

Looks cool but not sure how functional and convenient it is...

                Best Answer

I am pretty much exactly those same measurements, and I would personally go with the Medium, just because it is slightly more form fitting that a normal jacket. Especially if you plan on layering at all.

In regards to the zipper, there is a little piece of fabric that goes halfway up the hood to protect your neck and face from having the zipper nip at your skin, so it's pretty functional, as well as convenient :)

Can this coat be safely washed with regular detergent or is the Tech Wash a must?

                Best Answer

I agree completely with Kayla on this one!

This jacket is an investment, so I think it's worth it to spend a few extra bucks to ensure the fabric is properly washed! Regular detergents can clog the pores of the breathable/waterproof membrane.

What is the length of the coat - measuring from the back? How does it compare to the length of the jacket version of this?

Um, Jared...It is NOT 49 inches! The Canada Goose Mystique is 49"... Although Norrona does not state the length on their website, it looks to be approximately 35".
