    The backcountry is calling.

Hundred dollar lift tickets, never ending lift lines, and thirty dollar lunches drove you to the backcountry, but the Men's Norrona Lyngen Hybrid Jacket will keep you out there. Its hybrid construction puts bomber waterproof protection where you need it and a breathable softshell where breathability is key to preventing sweat from accumulating on your mid and base layers. The Lyngen has all the features you'd expect to find on a dedicated ski jacket with an adjustable storm hood, underarm vents, and a stretch powder skirt all there to keep you dry from the elements, as well as your own sweat. Once you're ready to drop in on another uber deep line, lock adjustable cuffs down, cinch the hood tight, and give your goggles a quick wipe with the included lens cloth, so you can at least see those first two turns before back-to-back faceshots leave your goggles covered with snow.

    Outstanding all around!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large

This is a hybrid ski shell that has pulled off combining light weight materials, flexibility, waterproof, and the over-the-helmet hood ACTUALLY fits over a helmet... with layering!

I have used this coat in almost all possible winter conditions: PNW rain/snow and full on blizzard (same day) in Whistler, Canada. Bluebird and champaign storm cycles in Utah. Lift you off the ground wind storms in Colorado. Hotter than all else spring touring missions in LCC, Utah. I have yet to be disappointed, or have wet mid-layers.

As primarily a splitboarder, my demands for a performance ski coat don't really align with ski or snowboard standards. Most snowboard specific is far too heavy/baggy/oversized, and most ski specific is missing features I prefer like upper body articulation, and the ever elusive wrist gaiter that us knuckle-draggers really want.

    Norrona nailed it all.

I have seen reviews commenting on the pocket situation, and I would have to agree a little. Especially where the internal chest pocket is too small for today's smartphones.

    Euro-Large equals American medium

I got this jacket today all pumped to go skiing and I swear I could barely zip it up with a thin sweater on. The description says "Fit: regular" This is wrong. It should read "Slim Fit"
When I was 18 and 155# this jacket would have been great, but I am 43 and 185 with a 44" chest and 36" waist, and I look like a stuffed sausage in this thing. Too bad the XL was all sold out in chili red, it's a nice jacket.

    Great shell, could use pockets

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

This is what I was looking for, a water proof shell. Got to test the jacket at Snowbird shortly after getting is in dumping snow and 40-50mph winds. It did great!

Would have given 5 stars if it had pockets (didnt realize that when I ordered it). It's just nice to put your hands or stuff in a pocket :)

This jacket looks blue. But the description says black.

    Which is it?
