Synonymous with durability and energy, the New Balance Women's Fuel Cell v1 Running Shoe maintains a responsive feel that allows you to stay fast, light, and supported as you navigate tempo training or 5k races alike. And while the Fuel Cell is a springy, flexible ride, it does lean a little towards the stiffer side of support thanks to its unique midsole composition, which New Balance has entitled as "FuelCell."

FuelCell consists of a hardy, nitrogen-infused TPU foam material which (might sound kind of gimmicky at first) actually has a little bit of science behind it (but don't call us scientists). More specifically, TPU foam is designed to last longer and provide more dependable energy return than conventional EVA foam, which is why companies like Saucony or Adidas use it in their top-of-the-line running shoes. So, leave it to New Balance to infuse nitrogen with TPU foam, in turn offering more springy feel and dependable longevity underfoot as you uptick the miles. That being said, the FuelCell midsole is relatively firm, yet it still maintains the flexibility you need—though, heavy foot strikers beware, this might not be the ideal shoe for you.
