From dusty deserts to mossy forests.

Taking its name from one of the most inhospitable deserts on earth, the New Balance Men's Fresh Foam Gobi Trail Running Shoe cruises across extreme environments with sure-footed finesse. Just one look at its aggressive tread pattern gives you an idea of its all-terrain capability, conquering everything from the desert plateaus in the New Mexico to Oregon's old-growth forests. FantomFit construction wraps your feet with a sock-like fit, bringing maximum support and lightweight agility to your trail running pursuits.

Fresh Foam cushioning is both responsive and extremely plush, softening the burden of running long distances across demanding stretches of trail. The removable EVA footbed serves up even more vibration dampening for runners preferring a supremely smooth ride. Rounding out this excellent trail shoe, breathable mesh inserts ventilate feet to combat perspiration build-up from dampening your socks.

    • Grippy trail shoe conquers widely variable terrain
    • FantomFit upper provides an ultra-light, supportive feel
    • Fresh Foam cushioning provides a supremely plush ride
    • AT tread rubber with traction knobs for sure-footed grip

    Great Training Shoe

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 9.0
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 160lbs

Bought these as a new trail trainer, for more support & cushioning than minimal race flats.
Showing no wear after 150+ miles on trails / asphalt.
Traction, support, and cushioning excellent for the weight and drop only 6 mm. Like the last half dozen New Balance shoes size 9.0 fits perfect and exactly the same over all NB running shoes.
I did pick them up on sale and plan on getting a 2nd pair (on sale), full price of $100 is higher than I like to spend on non race day shoes.
Overall a great trail shoe that has no problem with some road days mixed in!

    Maybe not for $100

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 140lbs

If you find these on sale, you won't be sad. At full price, I'm still on the fence about it.

I like them, and here's why:

    - They have great traction
    - They're light as ever
    - Mega comfortable
    - Built well; love the toe cap
    - Way breathable

The main drawback is that if you run through grass early in the morning, you'll be taking puddles with you the rest of the way. If that's an issue, consider going with a waterproof pair of trail runners.

    Fantastic for a bit

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I loved these shoes. Even bought a second pair, but the foam collapsed leaving no structure between the ball of my foot and all those fierce protrusions I was landing on. I still like them as a street shoe. Just don't expect more than 45 days out of these.
