10v1 Minimus Running Shoe

Whether you're a newcomer to the Minimus family or a seasoned supporter with the chiseled calves to prove it, this is a good time to consider the 10v1 Minimus Running Shoe. After changing fit and feel over the last few years, New Balance realized it had a pretty good thing when it first introduced the trail shoe, and took this model back towards the original Minimus' fit. If your feet are on the straighter side and you've got a thing for feeling the ground beneath you, the 4mm drop, flexible feel, and ultralight profile of the Minimus will be right up your alley on smooth, tacky trails and more technical routes alike.

New Balance replaced the committing zero drop and zero cushion profile of the original model with a 4mm drop and some light EVA foam on this version, which gives experienced midfoot runners the opportunity to tackle longer days without Achilles pain, and gives newbies to the minimal world a kinder introduction than models past. It also adds a grippy Vibram sole and low-profile lugs for added traction on rockier terrain.

  • Run trails unencumbered in this flexible, light shoe
  • 4mm drop offers a minimal feel with some cushioning
  • Airy, breathable uppers follow a streamlined fit
  • Sticky Vibram outsole lends confidence on rocky terrain
  • Odor-resistant treatment helps keep unsavory odors at bay

My go to minimalist shoe

These are my favorite trail shoes, I think at this point I've run through at least 3 pairs of this model (lasting around 6 months a pair putting down around 40 miles a week). As well as some of the previous iterations. This has been my favorite yet. Just the right amount of cushion and rubber coverage that I'm not hurting myself on super rocky trails or sending sticks through my shoes, but I can still feel the unevenness of the trail. The tread is very unaggressive so while it provides grip during dry conditions it can get bogged down if mud is rather clayey.

I love minimalist running. Its freaking awesome. So are these shoes! These are super light, super comfortable trail running shoes for running or just all around adventuring. I did size up a half step.

I don't hike a lot and for me this is the perfect do it all kinda shoes on most light trails. Super light and secure with breathable materials.

I have been in search of a shoe that doesn't have a massive amount of padding, I was looking for a barefoot shoe that has enough to protect your foot from the environment. Definitely a very thin shoe, but your foot has the breathability it needs.I do agree these are designed with a more narrow footbed than previous versions, although it is nothing drastic to effect the comfort of the shoe. Has amazing grip so you are able to take these shoes anywhere and they are appropriate for. Will be a loyal shoe wearer to these shoes.

Falls short of previous models.

Way skinnier than previous models. These now fit like laportivas instead of altras. The wide foot box that was once a staple of the minimus is gone without ordering the wide version.

Great all around shoe from trail and road runs to cross-training. I've owned three pairs of these things and they do not disappoint. These (IMO) are the closest things you can get before being barefoot or wearing FiveFingers (which I'm personally not a fan of). If you're looking for a barefoot feel and connected to the surface, give these a go.

A bit minimalist for my taste, but that's the point so no complaints. Very comfortable, great grip.

Very worried about choosing the size online, but in the end thanks to the size chart everything was very simple and the size was perfect. I always buy a size 9.5 from NewBalance and then the size is completely the same.

These are sweet shoes. New Balance hasn't gone away from when they first came out with these. I have worn these hiking, biking, running, and even just around town. It is pretty cool to be able to go for a run up the canyon, and then wear the same shoe to dinner.

Just as good as the first edition

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit:
True to size

They are just as good as the first edition when they first came out. I wore them on an easy seven miles to make sure they were going to work alright. Felt weird having shoes on after running barefoot for so long, but I think these are the best shoes you can get. Fits right along with my normal street shoe sizing.

Thanks for the review Ryan! Super helpful to get this feedback out to the community.

Hi, Ryan Would you say the sole material s the same soft rubber as the first edition? Thanks,

How are these with cutting or jumping side to side/making quick turns dose your foot slide or stay pretty stable?
