    Go west, young man.

When you're headed into the backcountry in search of deep powder, make sure you have the Never Summer West Splitboard to help you conquer it all. Equipped with a more aggressive version of Never Summer's Rocker Camber profile and plenty of pop-and response-enhancing features, the West is designed to confidently take on every aspect of those legendary peaks out, well, west.

Ripsaw Rocker Camber is similar to the original R.C. profile, but with enhanced camber zones that give it a poppy, more responsive sensation and improved edge hold, so you can conquer towering Western peaks. Extended transition zones at the main contact points offer a more forgiving feel and help the board plane in powder more easily, and the Vario Power Grip sidecut uses multiple radii to create additional contact points for reliable edge hold on steep, icy terrain. A slightly set-back stance enhances power and control while also improving float in the deep stuff.

Inside this board, sustainably-harvested poplar is fused with hardwood birch to create an incredibly lightweight yet durable core. The SuperLight Wood core is specifically designed for Never Summer's Carbonium Series, reducing weight for faster uphill performance without sacrificing strength. Bi-Lite fiberglass gives it a smooth, even flex, while Carbon VXR laminates extend in Vs from the inserts to the edges for efficient energy transfer that enhances response and loads up the board on ollies for unbelievable pop.

The RDS 1 damping system smooths out the ride when you're bombing through chop, while the sintered P-Tex sidewalls maintain integrity at cold temps, meaning they won't crack when you land backseat on a frigid day. The Carbonium topsheet is chip-resistant and sheds snow, and it has a texture that's more grippy than standard topsheets. It's finished off with an extremely durable, high-density Durasurf XT sintered 5501 base that has graphite added to make it as fast as possible.

    Have questions about this product?

a little surprised but I like it

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I picked this up thinking it was going to a medium flexing, directional twin I could use for jibbing around in the backcountry. I don't really find this board to be a mid flex board. This is a solid medium-stiff board. Between the bindings is really stiff and the tips feel a tad softer. I can charge on this thing. I have a Rome Whiteroom and this definitely feels stiffer.

Not a POW stick. This is not the board I take out with the snorkel. I have my whiteroom for that. This turned out to be a great board for going after the steeps once the conditions allow it.

It shed snow well because of the top sheet
Fairly light and a tight connection.
