Great tent needs more fly on ends

I used the 2 person tent on the JMT in fall of 2021. Perfect for one person with plenty of room for gear. Liked free standing feature and space to weight ratio. The floor area, though tapered (50" x 45'), is big enough for 2 each 72" x 20" wide air mattresses if sleeping 2 people with some space for gear. The only item that keeps it from getting 5 stars is that the fly does not extend far enough down at the head and foot. The ends also need tiedowns. These 2 shortcomings allow rain to drip on the tent and for wind to blow under the fly. Trying to figure out how to extend the fly and add tiedowns.

not worth the money

bought a 2p for a BMT through hike with my GF. sets up easily and has enough room but one BIG issue. When it started to rain. water was dripping on my face through the fly. a tent should be shelter from the elements. I had to hitch into town and buy a tarp to carry with me for when it rained

Great tent, a few suggestions

I bought this last fall after my Seirra Designs tent finally let me down. Used the dragon fly 2P on a recent trip into the northern Wrangel Mountains off Nabesna Rd in Alaska. Typically this is a dry area, but that last two Augusts have been very wet. I really like this tent First the good: Light weight, huge vestibules, lots of storage options. This tent is a huge upgrade over my 15 year old Sierra Designs Lightning (it should be, its had 15 years to improve). Perfect for one person or 2 people who dont mind being really close. Now some suggestions for improvement (this may add a few ounces...). The rain fly near the head should go to the ground. During rain the water drips off the fly onto the main body of the tent, then runs down the side and underneath the tent floor. The water can then pool up between the floor and the ground cloth if not set up properly. Another suggestion is to add a loop to the rainfly at the foot of the tent. This way it can be guyed out and held away from the main part of the tent. And the final suggestion its to adjust the way rain fly is water proofed where the storage loops ( the loops that hold the rain fly open when you want it to) are located. During rain they can drip onto your gear in the vestibule. Not a huge deal, but annoying. Thats it. Overall its a great tent and I consider it a great purchase!

All the features and comfort of a heavier tent!

Haven't gotten it out on the trail yet but set it up in the back yard and guyed out the rainfly. Setup is easy and fast - really appreciated the color coding on the corners so you can't get it backwards. Tons of features and amazingly spacious for the weight - half the weight of my old Marmot Limelight 3P but actually has more headroom and more useable space in the vestibule, with the same interior footprint. The second stake-out point for the vestibule makes it much more useable and some smart design decisions make it easy to get out of (unlike my old Marmot). Two minor complaints: first, needs a guy-out loop on the foot side of the rainfly. This is a strange omission ... it will definitely flap against the tent in a heavy wind. I will probably add something there myself. Also, the guy-out lines are dark grey/black ... too easy to miss even in daylight and I tripped over one as soon as I set it up! I will be replacing these with something more visible, in orange or yellow. Looking forward to getting this out on the trail!

Roomy! Fast Setup! Lightweight! Quality!

Preface: I have not used this tent on a backpacking trip yet, but plan to this summer. I am a long-time Nemo customer and have loved their products for years. I recently purchased this tent to replace a ~9 year old tent that I was saddened to open up and discover that all of the seam waterproofing and glue had failed. Nemo stands by their lifetime warranty and gave me a large credit for that tent. That allowed me to get a brand new tent. I was so happy and will continue to support Nemo and what they represent. Great company, great products! One of my requirements is that any tent I buy must be able to be setup by one person, no matter how large the tent it. This tent is a breeze to setup with the color-coded poles and all of the poles are a single unit. Very easy! This tent was also very roomy inside and I could kneel inside at the head end without crouching over (height: 5' 11"). All the zippers operate smoothly and the fabric and screening appears to be high quality (as I expect from Nemo products). I was really excited to see Nemo's continued progression towards being more environmentally friendly too, providing a reusable pole bag, instead of plastic bags that just get thrown away. They really try to do what they can to help protect the environment. My family and I (2 adults/2 kids) are excited to pair this tent with the Nemo Hornet Elite 2P for the start of backpacking fun!

Great Lightweight Tent!

This is a fantastic do it all tent. The 2p version is lightweight, durable, and has loads of space for my 6'4 frame. No condensation and is completely silent at night when staked out properly.

Kept Me Dry

I’ve had my Dragonfly 1p for a year and a half and it’s never failed me. I used it this weekend on a backpacking trip in South Florida. It started raining and I set my tent up as fast as possible before the heavy stuff starting coming down. I wouldn’t say I did the best job, I was in a rush. The sky opened up and it rained all night. It finally let up in the wee hours of the morning. The next day, other backpackers complained about their tents leaking and they were cold and wet all night. My little Dragonfly kept me completely dry and warm! I couldn’t believe it. I think that storm was the best test I could have put this tent through and it passed with flying colors. I had a few hikers asking what kind it was, they wanted to buy one.
