The Dragonfly Tent might not be the lightest shelter in Nemo's collection of backpacking tents, but it is one of the most spacious for comfier camping. Its three-season versatility pairs a full mesh canopy with a removable rain fly to accommodate warm, summer evenings or cold, rainy, shoulder season weather. The rain fly creates one large vestibule in front of the one zippered door.

Nice tent, not so great in the rain
I used this test last summer on several backpacking trips in glacier national park and the sawtooth mountains. It is light, easy to setup, and has a nice deep set of sidewalls. However, in the 1P tent the rainfly on the side opposite the door barely extends down to the height of the sidewall of the inside of the tent. As a result, under heavy rain there is considerable splash back into the tent, so it is hard to stay dry. This happened to me on several occasions last summer. I have the 2P version of this, and had I known about the 1P issue, I would have gone with something else.

Weird desfu design

This tent has the worst rain fly. Leaves key parts totally exposed. I guess they were trying to save weight but it defeats the purpose. It is light and sustained the wind. But if it’s cold wind you will freeze to death and if it rains that’s it, you’re done. Wish I could return it, such a waste of kone

Camped at 10,000 upper titcomb basin in wind river (midsummer), when returned from the Gannet climb, found tent collapsed with a pole broken (strong but not gale type wind all day}. Since the poles are curved and the break was in the middle of the curve, could not repair with a sleeve. Ended up propping the tent with a trekking pole . Tent returned for a refund . Be Warned - if camping above timberline. give 2 stars, because its ok only for mild weather

Too narrow, door stay a pain

Footprint and tub is sufficient for 1-person under 6ft, but a 25? regular sleeping pad will touch the sides at the foot end as the tent is tapered for a mummy size pad. So some risk to bringing in condensation on to your foot box. Setup is a breeze too. The walls however at the top are narrow. Sitting up means your face will likely hit the netting. This seems like an easy design fix with a slightly wider roof, but it makes it very difficult to change clothes, sit up, or do anything without touching the netting. It also gives a claustrophobic feeling if you have to spend any time in the tent. The door is also impossible to hold open. When soaked in condensation, covered in ice, or rain (I?ve tested both) you?re going to get wet trying to get in or out. There is no easy way to stow the door to prevent this. The elastic strap is simply too low to effectively hold a wet or iced over door. And very difficult to do from the inside.

Just the right amount of features, but not overdone to compromise the weight ? great to use a freestanding tent that offers ample space for myself and my gear!

Just righ sized and I can sit up!
I used the Dragonfly for about twenty nights from spring to fall backpacking in the WA cascades. It held up great, super light, just the right size for multi-day trips. Loved it. Only thing I don't love is the Divide and Conquer stuff sack. I get with a 2 or more person tent, but doesn't make sense for a one person tent. I don't use; I switched it for a smaller/lighter stuff sack.

Awesome Lightweight Solo Tent
For a 1P this thing has some room. Is super light, holds up well. I always use the footprint since I live out West and am typically sleeping on tough or rocky terrain. Have not used it in a heavy rain yet. The one small downside so far is the top pole fixtures can be moved easily in a heavy wind event. Otherwise great high end tent!

I'm a fan
I have mainly used this as a one person tent in a variety of different weather conditions and I believe it has done very well. It has seen everything from the Grand Canyon and Zion to the rainy lower peninsula of Michigan. One of my biggest concerns was it's performance in the wind versus the MSR Hubba Hubba, but after looking at other reviews I decided to take a chance on this tent. It has never been used in an completely unprotected situation, but it has been subject to 25+ mph gusts and rain in Michigan, as well as gusty wind while high in the Washington backcountry and it has never given me reason to be concerned. As long is everything is tensioned out properly (or additionally guyed out, if necessary), wind shouldn't cause a problem. The next biggest concern was it's waterproof-ness, which has proven to be great. While in WA we received some very heavy rain and were unable to find condensation in the tent that did not come from the moisture in our breaths. Michigan was also quite rainy, but I had similar results. As far as it's usage for backpacking, it's very light and packs down quite small. I'm a larger guy (6'3") but I was able to use it as a 2 person tent somewhat easily. The "attic" storage space is fantastic, as are the side pockets and the headlamp spots. The vestibule was large enough for my 70L bag and boots to be covered overnight. Overall I am very happy with this tent and I am confident it will hold up in a variety of situations.

Best 1P tent for backpacking and expeditions
The Dragonfly is the perfect combination between an ultralight and a robust tent. The freestanding form at only 2lbs allows for a wind resistand structure but doesn't compromise on weight. The fabric is still solid and you don't have to be scared manipulating it around. Great space inside for a 1P compared to the Hornet with a luxurious vestibule for gear. It has now become my tent of choice for my solo expeditions around the world!

Such an easy set up. Comfortable night sleep with no rain cover. I love my new tent. Can’t wait to get it out again!

It appears as though the dragonfly 2 tent is out of stock everywhere, including in Australia, where I live. How long before you think stock will be available again?
