Cosmo 3D Insulated Sleeping Pad

Whoever thought backpacking in winter was a good idea must have had the Nemo Equipment Cosmo Insulated Sleep Pad to keep them nice and comfortable while they slept. Nemo added a layer of PrimaLoft insulation to the durable polyester shell to keep you warmer and cozier than conventional sleeping pads. And even though it stuffs down to about the size of a backpacking stove, this pad's lateral I-beam baffles raise up to about 3.5 inches in order to keep you off the bumpy ground throughout the night. These baffles also offer more support and stability than most conventional sleeping pads, and the pad features a pillow baffle for extra support that doesn't add any weight whatsoever. An integrated foot pump lets your leg do all the work involved with inflating instead of your lungs. Additionally, when you're breaking down camp for a long hike, stuff this pad in its included stuff sack so you can minimize the amount of space it consumes in your pack.

  • An insulated sleeping pad for cold weather camping and backpacking
  • PrimaLoft insulation ensures you stay solidly warm
  • Foot pump provides quick and easy set up
  • Later I-beam baffles are raised for additional comfort
  • Stuff sack is included for your convenience

Sorely Disappointed

I've used it several times
True to size
Size Bought
5` 9"
185 lbs

In concept, a thicker, wider and longer sleeping pad would be more comfortable. I have used my Klymit static v insulated pad for years, it popped a couple of times and isn't super comfy, and has been replaced without question, which is nice. So I decided to upgrade to this pad for comfort and durability issues. All I noticed from using it over a week long trip is it is basically an inflatable pool float, there is no real benefit from its thickness, and the valves were leaky. I will be returning this to and expecting a full refund and to get a new comfort based pad for sea kayaking.

Didn't even last a season

And don't get me wrong, they were extremely comfy nights that we had together....But only after a handful of summertime yakpaking trips, I woke up on the ground. I shelled out the money for this pad because I really like all of my other Nemo gear. Especially the quality. It was particularly frustrating because I was replacing my leaking big Agnus pad when I bought it. Anyway, I hope I just got the lemon. And I still need to fill up the bath tub on a Saturday afternoon to see if I can find the leak and hopefully patch it. Great pad as long is it stays inflated!

Tall guy beta

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

At 6'3 I can confirm the long is just slightly too short so go with the XL if you're over 6'. Otherwise I loved the pad! It kept me off the ground all night and the built in pump is so convenient! I will say careful rolling around because the edges on this pad don't hug you like others but it is so comfy I was willing to put up with the peril!

Outdoor Comfort to the MAX

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I took this on a single night camping trip in the Uintas and I. am. in. love. This thing is the easiest sleeping pad to blow up that I've ever used. Rather than wasting precious breath and time blowing up a traditional pad, this one has an innovative foot pump that allows you to save time and effort by using your legs instead of your lungs! It also pumps up to a really decent thickness. Feels like a regular air mattress if not better, honestly. If you accidentally fill it too full, you can also easily dump some air with the double valves at the top. Everything was made to be easy with this pad. Well worth it.

Easy Set Up!

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This pad is a breeze to set up, which is a big plus for me. The foot pump works better than I expected. It stayed inflated all night and was so comfortable and big! It packs down pretty small for how big it is, but I wouldn't use it for anything other than car camping.

so comfortable

This sleeping pad is almost too comfortable, it is like camping cheating. It is easy to inflate for the large size. It does pack down into a very small stuff sack, but I did really have to wrestle it to get it in there. This is a beast of a pad, it is just massive in the xl size.
