While some might beg to differ, there's nothing quite as gnarly as sucking down a mosquito along with a big gulp of coffee. Thankfully, the Nemo Equipment Inc Bugout Tarp eliminates the off chance of you noshing on one of those unanticipated protein snacks with its bug-free construction. As its name indicates, the Bugout sets up like a tarp but is equipped with 360 degree protection while the ripstop roof is fashioned with a polyurethane coating, in turn making it a convenient shelter from precipitation.

- Q & A
NICE TARP WITH BUGOUT NET
9 x 9 shelter
Very nice looking tarp and always love the color of Nemo
I have several of Nemo brands
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Used in the middle of black fly season in Northern ADKs canoe camping. The best purchase I have made. Blackflies are traditionally difficult to repel and pack a bad health risk to those that react poorly to their bites. This product solves the problem. Strings up like a tarp. Provides protection from the sun, rain and bugs that bite - no matter the weather. The 12x12 is big enough for 4-6 people with camp chairs. It'll fit over a picnic table. Can be put up with or without poles - poles not provided. Great for canoe camping, hammock camping and car camping. If you are tired of bugs trying your sanity or sitting in front of the smokiest fire you can make, try out this product. Bring extra tent stakes. Nemo doesn't provide enough stakes to properly use this product. Regardless, I believe this product is worth every cent. Provides a roomy shelter from bugs that will make anyone want to bug out.
I hate bugs!!!
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
We rarely travel to buggy environments but when we do we always bring the Bugout Tarp. Small learning curve on efficient setup technique but nothing that can't be dialed after the initial launch. Strong in the wind, roomy enough for several people to gather inside and fend off pesky mosquitos.
Are the walls the same height all around, and is that 7'? (Some photos make it look tapered, as if the walls are shorter on two corners meant for poles and taller on the corners meant for the tree tie.)
How many tie out loops are there along the edges on the 12x12?
Are there any exterior/top-side tie out loops?
Does it comes with 2 adjustable poles ?
Hey Steve! That would be a negative. This product is just the tarp, netting, and guy line. You can use your own trekking poles, trees, or aluminum poles sold separately to set the tent up. If you have any more questions or need help selecting trekking poles for this set up please let me know!
