Comfortable and Very Adaptive Bag!

Overall a very durable and comfortable backpack allowing pretty serious flexibility in how you can carry things. The bag is very comfy with rigid and thick padding in the hip belt which sites nicely when the waist strap is cranked pretty tight. My average pack weights have been 50-70lbs and this makes them feel closer to 30-50 which is very impressive. The frame stays can basically mold to your pack which means items in overload are held snugly in place, I've carried sleeping pads, wool blankets, rifles, hard cases, winter (-20) rated insulation, cold weather clothing, firewood, and tents over long distances and this has been no problem. The ability to basically double the volume of the bag with overload is super versatile and for winter campers means that you can pack out adequate warmth without breaking your lumbar. Plus being able to carry pelican cases easily means less equipment liability and less of my supervisors being mad at me for dropping stuff off mountains. Material choice is a great blend of durable and lightweight however when compared to a friend's SATL I would much prefer the higher denier fabric on the mil packs. The SATL/Military buckles and clips are also much much higher quality and frankly MR should make them the defacto for all their bags as the weight difference is negligible in a fully loaded bag. Larger mil style clips/buckles are also easier to use with gloves in the winter. Main improvements for the bag could be: runners vest style soft bottle carriers on front harness, mil quality plastic components, and higher denier fabrics (500/mil cordura). If y'all could please make an 80-100L SATL style bag with overload then field exploration work wouldn't suck monkey nuts and my back would be saved. Highly recommend the terraframe, this bag has been an absolute pleasure to carry heavy items and provides a sense of load security that few bags can match. MR's implementation of overload is a killer feature (even against competing meat shelves) with how simple and efficient it is to set up and use.

Great for backpacking

I purchased this Terraframe 80 in the spring of '23 and used to on an 80+ mile backpacking trip through the mountains of New Mexico over the 4th of July week. This pack never failed me! I carried about 70 lbs for most of the trip and always had spare space. The pack was comfortable and I was able to balance the pack perfectly. The two long pockets were great for holding tent stakes, maps, and other odds and ends. The pack withstood rain, triple-digit heat, brushes with rocks, trees, and thorned bushes without issues or tears. The two side pockets were easy to reach with the pack on and more than big enough to hold my rain jacket, pack cover, and water bottle. The internal water bladder pocket easily held my 3-liter bladder with no excessive pressure or pinching. The two rows of webbing on the kidney pads held a small MOLLE pouch for easy access, on-the-go, snacks. I did not get a chance to use the expandable cargo space or the detachable daypack. Instead of the detachable daypack, I used a Mystery Ranch In-and-Out 19, which complemented the Terraframe 80 perfectly. The only thing I would add to this pack is a couple rows of webbing on each side of the pack to add extra external MOLLE pouches or straps to better secure long gear such as hiking poles or hatchets. However, this pack worked great for this trip and I can't wait to use it on future trips!

Terraframe 80 is the best all around pack

I bought this pack a few months ago in preparation for a through hike in the Bob Marshall. This will be my 3rd through hike and the most comfortable! I did not have shabby gear the first two times but this is an unbelievably comfortable pack. The storage it provides is versatile. We just took a trip from Montana to Nevada and I was able to fit it in the over head storage even on our small Montana connecting flights. I am now using the lid as a day pack as we hike around Nevada. I plan on making it double duty for hunting season and love the color for both hiking and hunting. Being able to separate the frame to attach quarters or a pack raft is awesome. The frame is very light and overall construction/ materials are durable. Thanks for the awesome pack and opportunity to make some fun new memories!

Amazing backpack. But one small thing

I've had this bag for almost a month and it's been amazing. I've been using this for backpacking and in the future I'll be doing some camping in the spring, the frame in minimalistic but strong and offers amazing stability. The overflow feature on the frame allows me to carry a one person tent which is perfect but it can be used for so much more. The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 out of 5 is its a little lacking when it comes to pockets on the inside for organization, But that's a small price to pay for the 77 liters of storage which has been perfect for my needs. Another amazing product mystery ranch keep it up!

Heavy Duty Pack

Bought this pack at the end of the season. The thing that sold me was the fit, the weight distribution is excellent. Sized it to fit my torso and hips, I am very happy with that. On the down side, the pack weighs more than your standard off the shelf back pack, it's noticeable. A bit disappointed that it has no accessory pouches on the hip belt for easy access items. It also could have an internal basket (lid) to keep my sleeping bag down when I put it in the lower zipper access. These are small things. This pack is built to last, everyone says it will be the last pack that I will own. Excited to put it to the test in the field.

Bought this pack for the capability to pack all of my gear and potentially pack out game. This pack didn’t fail. Had 45 pounds of gear in it and it felt like there wasn’t anything on my back except for the extra effort I had to put into climbing hills… I’d recommend this pack to anyone who plans on several days hiking and needs to carry some extra gear. Definitely not for the ultra lighter. Will buy again in many years.

My favorite pack

Got it a few months ago. -Carries weight really well. Loaded it up multiple times with 60-90 lbs. -Makes heavy loads easier to carry -I use the overload to carry my rifle (It’s~16lbs) -No sleeping bag pouch isn’t a problem for me personally, my gear fits well -the tubes are great, I like to keep gear I was quick access to in there -the clamshell is a feature I like in all my bags, especially this one. No digging for stuff -great zippers -shoulder straps and waist belt are the best I’ve ever worn. They distribute the weight evenly and don’t dig into your hips/shoulder. Quality Negative - -Would like to see 1 or 2 small internal pockets to organize small items -The bungee on the top of the external broke the first time I used it. Made my own new loop with para cord

Fantastic load distribution

I intentionally overpacked for a long weekend at Enchanted Rock in Texas because I wanted to really test this pack. It performed fantastically! The overload feature performed as advertised; the heaviest part of my load (all the water) nearly disappeared.
