When The Woods Are Your Temple.
Come Sunday, you can't be found settled within wooden pews and leather-bound books. On the contrary, the solitude and solace of the mountains offer you respite that no place of worship can, and the Mystery Ranch Women's Mystic Backpack is more than ready and willing to ensure you remain well-prepared on your journey. Designed to tackle the wolfsbane-laced trails of Montana to the dry, dusty hardpack of Arizona, the Mystic provides durability and a comfortable carry for all of your haul.
More specifically, this pack is fashioned with a 210D Robic honeycomb and 420D nylon fabric that's equal parts durable and lightweight. A Teflon treatment on the exterior of the fabric not only extends the life of your pack and resists abrasive tree branches or rocks, but it also sheds moisture and safeguards your gear from errant precipitation. Additionally, the Mystic's 4272 cubic inches of space is more than capable of hauling light loads for short weekend jaunts in the forest or heavy bundles for week-long romps in the backcountry. The full-length center zipper allows you to access your gear quickly and on the fly, and the Mystic also features a top-loading access point and removable lid. Two external front pockets keep bug spray or sunscreen close at hand (without having to rummage through your pack), and the adjustable loops easily accommodate ice tools or trekking poles. Not to mention, this pack is equipped with two water bottle pockets and is hydration compatible, ensuring that you stay sufficiently hydrated on the trail.
The previously mentioned features are all fine and dandy, but if the pack doesn't fit right then it just won't do, right? For this very reason, the designers over at Mystery Ranch outfitted all packs with an adjustable yoke and telescoping harness. To adjust the pack, remove the adjuster tool from the yoke, use it to finagle the hook-and-loop material free from the bag, and slide the telescoping harness up or down in accordance with more or less yoke room. Additionally, the Mystic is equipped with what Mystery Ranch calls an Adventure Frame with Active Framing. The frame is built flat to ensure that the weight of your pack load is transferred more effectively than say an S or C curve, and a flexed arc can be achieved by pulling on the lifters and lifting the pack off your shoulders to distribute the load across your entire back.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I am an organizational fanatic and when searching for a pack, I hated the idea of sticking everything in a top loader or just organizing things by dry sacks. The number one feature of this pack is the full zipper down the middle. I am able to pack and unpack in a snap, reorganize if things need adjustment, or grab something mid hike; NEVER unpacking everything in my pack, or searching blindly for something! The second feature I love about this pack, is the outside pockets. I am able to store snacks, chargers, camera lens, or even an extra layer and can easily access them. The top pocket is huge and if I switched out a set of straps, I think it could be used as a day pack/hip-pack. I love having the hip belt pockets and the water bottle pockets on each side hold a bottle, plus a shirt and more. I have used this pack on over 50 miles of trails in just the two months and haven't had any issues. It has weighed up to 45lbs while still sitting comfortably on me (I am 5'2), and carried the weight with ease. The material is very durable and has been water resistant in the PNW, even though I haven't had it in a full rainstorm. I did purchase a small and have the yolk as small as possible. I think I would have been ok with an XS, but the smallest setting works fine on me. My husband looks at my pack with envy and dreams of the day he isn’t searching with one arm through his for something.
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
I gave this pack to my girlfriend, and to be perfectly honest, I'm a little jealous of it. It's a well-built pack with a few features I haven't seen on too many packs. The front two pockets are nice for stashing those little items I usually just end up piling up in the top-loader or throwing in the top of my pack, resulting in a cluttered mess. The back panel is fairly basic, but appears to be comfortable with a mesh lining and a decent amount of padding along the back and waist.
