- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Overall excellent function and quality. I bought it to commute from my apartment to campus. It stays on well and has great storage. I really bought it because I wanted the padded laptop sleeve which is 13". I found out after I ordered my laptop is 13.3" (MacBook Air). I couldn't use the nice sleeve but am sure it works well. I didn't return because it was still a nice bag and thought I would use it. I got tired of the messenger bag so just use a regular backpack now.
An overall great messenger design
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I purchased this bag to replace my Kitchen Sink Backpack from Oakley. I use my bag for carrying; a macbook pro 15", several books/planner, water bottles, external hard drives, and cords for charging various items. The kitchen sink is ample at 34 liters and holds a ton but I wanted access to all items when I opened my bag hence a messenger style. Most importantly I needed a better carry-on bag for airline travel. I have a used Chrome and Timbuk2 but wanted something different for storage and overall comfort. This thing is incredible! The pocket design work is great. I did the ultimate test of Oakley vs Mystery ranch and transferred all my work/carry-on items from 7 days on the road of travel from the kitchen sink to the invader and it ALL transferred amazingly. That's 34 liters down to 24 liters with no issues. I even had room for a water bottle on the inside sleeve of the Invader. The only thing I will caution is that the sleeve that looks like a laptop sleeve would hold a tablet or macbook air at best. Mystery ranch should look into that but the laptop holds just fine behind the inner divider in front of the laptop sleeve. The comfort of the shoulder strap is great and can even be carried single shoulder style as well with little to no movement. I highly recommend looking into this bag if you're looking for a messenger or a great carryon bag.
