Works well for multiple uses.

I bought this pack for snowmobiling, backcountry skiing, and to have as a day pack at work. It works well for all seasons, the rescue gear compartment can easily fit other items in an organized fashion when you are not wondering around in the snow. The main buckle for the waistband seems a little small easy to break, time will tell...

Features that fit

I bought this pack for the upcoming ski touring season. Just what I was looking for - fits what I need, thoughtfully laid out, a feel of quality, about right for weight. Now let it snow!

Excellent Snowsport Pack

Very little to not like about this pack. Fabric, features, design, comfort are all exemplary. Only nitpicky thing about this pack is the waist strap buckle. Is it glove friendly? Certainly. Unfortunately, it's belly friendly as well. Any time I bend forward, the bottom edge presses against my belt or waist band while my belly presses against the top edge of the buckle and pops the waistband open. Catastrophic? Nope, but a tad annoying. Looking at replacing with a Fastex or similar buckle.

Great pack but lacks some basic features

The pack seems to be very high quality but the lack of a few basic features is puzzling. There are no hip stash pockets and no sleeve on the shoulder strap for a hydration pack hose. Both these features are standard on almost every pack, from entry level packs to high performance. The rest of the design seems great but the lack of hip stash pockets makes the pack not worth it for me, I wish I looked closer before purchasing. If you are fine with not having these features then it would be an amazing backpack.

Excellent pack for SAR Ops

I have used this pack on two winter SAR snowmobile rescues as well as two day Avalanche field course. The harness is super comfortable, ability to access main compartment from top or inside panel is great.

LOVE IT, but...

Just got done touring in BC for a week and have a few thoughts. I love the way the pack fits and is overall excellent. The pack will take a LOT of gear, which is great for what I need it for. I just updated from an older BCA Stash 40 and the new pack rides better when loaded for sure. I like the top pocket for the sandwich, snacks and easy to get to stuff. The Side zips running the length of the harness are awesome for getting to the water and tea bottles or grabbing a puffy layer for transitions. Or rip the velcro on top and undo stabilizer buckles to really open things up. Not sure about the velcro yet, time will tell, seems just fine at this time. Getting to my "emergency gear" (shovel and probe) is a bit cumbersome. If you really want to open the entire pocket it requires popping 6 buckles and then the zipper. I have it set up so I can slide the zipper down on one side and wrangle it all out, which is working fine. it would be a bit better if there was just a little more room to pull everything out the side. AND maybe make the zip pulls bright red or pink or something to set them apart from the others. The helmet carry is decent, could have made the soft loops with a little more room to slide the C buckles into, but it works. Again the velcro closure on that is working for now, but being it is on the bottom of the pack, I'm wondering how that will fare over time and usage. Maybe a zip pocket would work better? My main gripe is the waist belt buckle, it sucks. please just go back to the old style fastex buckle. When I'm all geared up with skins stashed in my jacket, you cannot see the waist belt, but you kind of need to in order to get the thing lined up perfectly. Many times I got only one side to "latch" and the other would just slide in but not click shut. There's a few things to think about. I really do like the pack and its going to be a great companion for many years. I'm proud to support my local business, even though this pack was make in Vietnam. huh.

Great all around pack

Stoked with the quality and design of this pack. Used it from powsurf sesh to avy migitation mornings at work. Just the right size for day tour and straps that are not in the way. Replaced my Osprey pack. Wished it had some hip belt stash pockets or offered up as an accessory.

Great pack...a few suggestions

I bought this bag over a year ago and used it for some winter ski mountaineering, spring skiing in the NE and a couple of overnight backpacking trips. Great materials, fairly lightweight and constructed with the high quality I've come to expect from mystery ranch. Great fit: comfortable width on shoulder straps/chest harness, load adjustment keeps things balanced. Side and back straps are easy to cinch tight and adjust with poles and will not loosen up during your hike. Best feature: ability to "easily" unzip back of pack - nice large zippers/Velcro security flap. What kept this from being a 5 is the lack of external tool loops, no crampon storage, no hip pocket, small waste buckle is a pain..
