The perfect stove
I would say yes! The variety of fuels types is spectacular! 90% of the time i use iso butane or propane, but the ability to convert is awesome. Quick cook times, good flame control. I also have a whisper light stove for colder weather and higher altitudes.

Ok but I wanted it to be better....
I like the multi-fuel flexibly but when using white gas, which is why I bought it, the lighting, priming and minimal temperature adjustment makes it less amazing. After priming, the yellow flame burns wildly and sooty. I really wanted to like this stove more but my 30 yo Coleman white gas mini camping stove is easier to light and to adjust the flame but it is also bigger/heavier. At least with white gas, it's good for boiling water quickly. With fuel canisters, it is more adjustable but still more bulky than my other stove options.

Versatile flamethrower
I love this stove and the versatility of being able to use liquid fuel or canned. If you could add simmer control similar the Dragonfly stove I would give it 6 out of 5 stars.

Quiet! Simmers great.
Loved being able to use propane in my Universal! And it was so quiet! Here, pictured packed inside my packraft (along with tent, sleeping bag, kitchen, tarps, etc). Clearwater River, Alaska, 4-23-2022.

Awesome stove
I have several stove systems, msr, and jet oil. This stove covers all of them, letting you use a variety of fuels. With the iso butane fuel it will simmer foods very nicely! Being able to use white gas, unleaded, kerosene and isobutane means you will never be short on fuel. It took roughly 3 minutes to bring 2 cups of water to boil with the isobutane, and that was without the windscreen. If you are looking for a versatile stove that checks all the boxes I believe this is it

Rock Solid Portable Volcano
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Think of this stove like a stick-shift car. It requires some mastery and finesse to work it right but once you do and you can get it to sing, it is a thing to behold and is just so satisfying. You do your part and it will purr like a kitten in any location on this earth at any altitude for decades to come. This new updated version of the Whisperlite is awesome for a couple of key reasons. Since it is designed to run an isopro canister inverted, the fuel line has a swivel. A BIG reason this is a game changer is when you are using a typical white gas setup with a bottle and pump, when you are ready to put the stove out, the swivel allows you to simply flip the bottle over. The fuel pump will then be pulling air out of the bottle instead of fuel and will burn all the fuel out of the line and depressurize the bottle all in a neat and controlled manner. No more opening the fuel bottle and having it spray out. Simply flip the bottle over, let the stove run out, then let the air empty out of the bottle. Then your bottle is depressurized, and the stove and fuel line are completely dry and empty. This is killer. (just remember to close the fuel valve at the pump when you are done! ) This feature alone is worth buying this particular model even if you never use canisters. I also found you can run this stove remarkably clean once you master a couple of tricks. Use denatured alcohol for priming instead of fuel and simply fill the priming cup up to the top. You get a smaller and much more controlled priming flame than the usual big, sooty fireball, and it preheats the stove very thoroughly. Then when that burns out open the valve and when you hear the hiss, light it. Poof! instantly go from zero to perfect blue roaring burn. No soot at all, no huge fireball, no mess, and your stove remains pristinely clean. Having a rock solid piece of gear that requires some mastery on your part to maintain and operate in order to achieve its ridiculous performance capability is something that really speaks to me. If that is your brand of crazy and you are willing to "learn to drive stick" so to speak, this stove will take you, your children, and probably your grandchildren anywhere on terra firma.

Finally the perfect combo

Having used a whisperlite extensively throughout my best hiking years in patagonia, and then upgrading to a dragonfly (always a fan of liquid fuel for backpacking) I eventually moved on to establish a family and started car-camping, where larger gear and propane cylinders became the norm. There is something convenient about the ease, clean flame, reduced messiness and general availability of gas canisters that I can?t say of liquid fuel, and so I added many gas stoves to my collection. Fast forward to last week when I discovered MSR had put out this hybrid. What a joy to find this version which resembles a whisperlite (with the benefit of ease of field maintenance and simplicity) but allows both liquid fuel and propane. I just tried and iso-butane can and was surprised at the power of the flame. The dual fuel functionality really opens up options when traveling and unsure what fuel will be most readily accesible. or perhaps you want a small canister if you?re doing a day hike but would rather have liquid fuel if you?ll spend two weeks out in the wild. They also improved the design of the legs which slide around rather than snap-in as in the whisperlite. In any case, I give this two thumbs up: what a great addition to an already great and reliable family of stoves!

High quality stove. Fast, efficient, multiple fuel sources
This is part of my moto-camping setup. It fits inside my water pot. Worked the first time and every time. High quality. Love the option to use multiple fuels. Fast, efficient and can adjust the flame for low heat cooking because there is more to camp cooking than just boiling water.
