    Used for Car Camping

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a great stovetop coffee maker that doesn't require us to carry a lot of extra equipment or take turns waiting to press out our coffee. We get about 4 cups of coffee from this set up and is everything we were looking for. I was most surprised how easy it is to pour! The cutouts in the lid for pouring were easy to aim and I didn't have coffee running down the side of the pot or splashing the table.

    Works, easy

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

buddy of mine had this on a recent cold weather camping trip. Easy to use, lightweight (tho I'm not sure id take it if I was trying to go ultralight) but waking up in the 20s and 30s, this was a nice backcountry luxury.

    haven't used it!

This may very well be a great product but I wouldn't be able to tell you either way! The stopper/handle on my trail lite duo set is impossible to remove ... I've tried the rolling technique explained in the instructions and am afraid that the lid will break! Dunno ... maybe mine is the only one

The old stopper did rip along the inside flange when I was setting up the press. It made it very easy to take out but had to be thrown away. If you plan on drinking coffee often, don't worry so much about saving the old stopper.

    Love My French Coffee!!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought this for my boyfriend a few months back since we can't go out into the woods without some caffeine. And what better way to get your Kona Coffee out in the backcountry than with this lightweight french press system that goes with the MSR Trail Lite Duo System. The only complaint I have (which really isn't a complaint on the product) is that I will occasionally forget the detachable stick part to this. Just make sure ya keep it all in the same place rather than keeping that part by the sink! Other than that, this is one of the essentials to our pack!

    Unanswered Question

Ok excuse my ignorance here but do you boil the water with coffee grounds already in the bottom of the pot? I've used several French presses but they always require a separate pot to boil water. THEN pouring over the grounds.
