    Great Design & Simmer Performance

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have had a Jetboil zip for many years and have recently become frustrated with its "full blast only" operation, as I've been trying to up my camp cooking game. I needed something that could pack down at least a small and have reliable burner modulation for simmering. I originally wanted to get one of the very cheap pocket rocket (1) knock offs or similar from ebay/amazon, but they did not pack nearly as small or could not simmer like I wanted. So far the PR2 performs great, at least as powerful and fast-boiling as the jetboil (using jetboil pot) with smooth and steady low simmer adjustability. Still a solid value when bought on sale, considering the build quality, performance, and reputation for reliability.

Great stove in a small package

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Very dependable stove in a miniscule size. More stable than you would think. Great size for coffee pot or 8 - 9 " pans. Lots of bang for your buck!

    Perfect Little Stove

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Super straight forward and easy to use right out of the box. I love how simple it is and how little space it takes up in my pack!

    MSR PocketRocket 2 Stove

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This stove is amazing, so incredibly lightweight and efficient, perfect for backpacking, when we want a fast hot meal at the beginning and at the end of the day, without the use of a camp fire for cooking. So easy to use.

    Super Light and Packable

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Have used this stove many times for camping/climbing trips. Very light and packable. Heats water/whiskey cider super quickly and pretty decent for cooking too. Only downside is it heats the bottom of your pan a little to centrally, not great at heat distribution. Still makes a mean egg sandwich in the backcountry though!

    The classic 2.0

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Easy to use, lightweight stove, what more could you want? I bought the MSR Handheld Piezo Igniter to go with this, makes it much more convenient than using matches or worrying about a lighter not working. I have been able to carry this onto an airplane too, TSA did double over it, but after realizing that there was no fuel or ignition on it, they let it through!

    Hot Meals Anywhere

I love this little stove. I’ve only had it month but found incredibly handy and uplifting to have hot meals on my last few excursions without all the weight I used to carry for cooking. It boils water super quickly and handled some gnarly wind and snow without much of a wind block.

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

it's unbelievable how powerful this little Pocket Rocket it. It boils water very quickly and is super light/ compact. It's a great tool to have in the backcountry if you are camping at low elevation when you don't need a multi fuel stove.

      Fantastic Stove

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Surprisingly great. Probably your best bet for price if you're looking for something lightweight and reliable. Pretty quick to get going and does the job right. Seemingly durable. Haven't had any issues with this at all.

      Compact and reliable

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This little stove packs down smaller then most camp stoves (about 1 1/2 in wide by 3 1/2 inches tall). The stove comes with a hard shell case that is a triangle tube shape and has enough extra internal space for a small lighter or matches. The set up is pretty simple, just screw it on to the fuel and fold it open. The one downside is that it doesn't have a wind block, so sometimes I have to be a little crafty when lighting it initially. I keep it in my car for road trip coffee and it's my go to for a light backpacking stove.

      So Convenient!

The stove itself weighs nothing, and it’s so packable, that I can store a mini lighter in the little box along with the stove. Not only this, but it’s really powerful. It doesn’t boil water quite as fast as a Jetboil, but it’s still a great (and cheaper)alternative for anyone looking to save a huge chunk of weight for faster longer expeditions!

        Compact and light

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have purchased and used several backpack stoves over many years of backpacking the High Sierra and Uinta Mountains. I would have to say that I have generally been pleased with the function and use of each stove but have been disappointed in the weight and amount of space required to carry these stoves and fuel. When I saw the Pocket Rocket 2, I saw an answer to the size and weight problem. The question would be the function. I purchased one and tried it out on may last backpacking trip. The stove was amazing and one small canister of fuel held out for the three full days I was in the back country. The stove did very well in windy conditions, It was easy to use and set up and then put away. I absolutely loved this stove and will be putting the others away, It is so compact and light you can easily find a place for it in your backpack. A very good product. Highly recommend!

        Simply the best

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

As far as lightweight, simple camp stoves go, this is by far the best out there. Super solid, easy to maintain, and very reliable. The new redesign makes it even more reliable and awesome. This little stove will be with me on any trip i go on!
