Head to the backcountry with lightning speed.

When the backcountry is calling your name, throw on your MSR Lightning Ascent Snowshoes to take a trek through the mountains and enjoy the backcountry at a slower pace. Featuring decking made from ballistic nylon, the Lightning Ascents can handle steep ascents up snow-covered mountains and leisurely strolls through powder-filled meadows with equal aplomb. The frame provide 360-degree traction when you're crossing a field of powder or ascending a wind-blown ridgeline, and PosiLock AT bindings work with Torsion2 crampons to provide sure-footed traction. Heel risers in the rear work to prevent overworking and reduce fatigue so you can enjoy more time in the untamed winter wilderness.

    Beast Mode!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Put these on and you'll nearly float across the snow. I had to stop myself and make sure they were still attached to my feet....was trekking so fast I thought they had a self propel mode. On a more serious note.....they are light on your feet. They grab great. Everyone that sees them wishes they had them.

    What else can you expect

Well, MSR is well known for their superior outdoor fun toys and I feel like this is pretty much their flagship model for snowshoes, so of course they just dominate. I'm relatively a newb at snowshoeing but went with these anyways and there's not much learning curve. The heel lifts were nice when we went straight up about 30 degree slope in deep powder for about 700' elevation gain. The grip on these things is simply amazing. I had some trouble on the downhill though, not sure if it was inexperience, the deep pow or the shoes.
