HyperFlow Microfilter
Pumping three liters per minute, the MSR HyperFlow Microfilter provides fast and dependable water purification—all the while weighing in just over seven ounces. That means you can pack quick-filtering power without sacrificing weight or space on your fast-pace backpacking trips. The Hyperflow Microfilter's float end stays face-down in the lake or stream and won't clog up as you pump, and an included Quick Connect Bottle Adapter connects to MSR, Nalgene, and other bottles with 63mm threaded openings. And, more importantly, no tools are needed to disassemble the Hyperflow Microfileter for on-the-go cleaning.

Hint for pumping
Hint: when the chamber fills with water, there is always some air in it. Only push to pump water out until just before the air, ie: do not push bubble of air thru. So I tip the filter down toward the bottle and it works well. The filter does not like pumping air. This works well.

Broke in the Backcountry!!
While I was pumping this filter came apart in my hands! If I was alone, I would have been left without water!! Would not rely on this alone. I am buying a squeeze-type filter from now on. Less moving parts that could break, and way more compact! Very disappointed in what I thought was a top of the line brand. Hoping that MSR will make things right and stand behind their product...

Years of reliability
I've had one of these filters since it's release, several years now. It's been my go to on backpacking trips, thru-hikes and backcountry hunting trips all over the western United States. I've supported multiple people in all of these scenarios with a single filter. I may have backwashed it a handful of times and still using all original parts... Just ordered a replacement filter and maintenance kit to ensure that it remains my go to for years to come.

Does not stand up over time
I have had this pump for approximately three years. It is only used for a week every summer. I have had a plastics part break twice. First time the pump was still usable, but had to be held by two people to operate. Second break was the clear plastic in the bottle fill lid fitting. The resulted in the pump being nonfunctional. It appears that the plastic parts are not strong enough to withstand use over time. The fatigue and then break. I received a repair part for the first break. Based on the repeated issue I think that I will be looking at other models. Additionally, the on line repair site states that it will be 12 weeks before I get a response. Also, I was unable to upload pictures of the damage (jpg files).

Best overall filter
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I love this thing. I've had mine for years and service it annually. I'll take this mountain biking, hiking, and even backpacking. The filter comes with an attachment for a Nalgene bottle, but it even fits some bike bottles as well, so that you can clip in and pump with out risking spilling that water you worked so hard for. I've also found you can pop the bite valve off of a bladder and plug the hose into the filter so you can easily refill a hydration bladder. The only caveat is you'll want to keep it in your sleeping bag on cold nights in the backcountry to help prevent the filter from freezing up.

Impressions after extensive 8 years of use
I have used approximately 6 different filters from 3 manufacturers. This one is the one I have been using exclusively for the past 8 years.

Lightweight
At 55 years old and still hiking the mountains, light weight and durability is the key to keep on moving for me. This has been great for my multi day hikes across the Enchantments, WA.

Just get one, you won't regret it.
Love this pump so much I bought a second one. I got tired of swapping bag to bag and now I always have one on me no matter what trip I am going on. Such a simple, fast and effective way to collect drinking water in the backcountry.

Not reliable!!!
I was so excited, I thought I had found the filter for me after trying it out at home. Even following the guidelines for back flushing and in what was very clear and clean water the filter clogged. Total let down. Im ok with spending money on a reliable item for use in backcountry hunting. This is not it. MSR advertises themself as making reliable products....""Safety"" is in the name and by this filter making past RnD and for sale makes me change my view of this company which prior to this filter I have been very loyal. Do not buy!
