Not necessary unless you in a rainforest

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

If you go backpacking, you don't need this. Why adds weight? It's great to store more just outside of your tent and use low profile chair to watch the rain. For the money, it's not worth getting this. The fly does a job for my Nook tent. I can sit inside the tent just like the shed to watch the rain. Shed to me is a waste of money and weight to your backpacking. You're better off with Hoop tent.

Alright, but not exactly great.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I purchased this so I had more space for my gear, along with space for my dog (labrador) to sleep inside the gear shed space. Kind of awkward set up and I think it could benefit from an extra tie down or two. It was also pretty hard to climb in and out of comfortably. I have set it up twice now and have been debating returning it.

Double the space

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I purchased this to accompany my Hubba Hubba NX when I take an extended bike trip this fall. I have used it when car camping to become familiar with it. It's doubtful I would backpack with this as it's about the same size as my tent pack, and not too much lighter. So keep that in mind in your use case.
This fits great, using OEM attachment points and quality straps and loops. This indeed about doubles the tent space, keeping in mind it's mostly useful for weather protection. With the majority of the vestibule open to the ground, I'd still worry about gear with rain/water flowing along the ground, but it'll def protect from overhead.
My star reduction is for a few points
1 -- it's very hard to move in and out of this. The ceiling gets very low.. due to how it attaches closer to the tent body. I found myself using the regular vestibule entrance as my 6"1' frame didn't fit well in the shed entrance. While zipping up the door one night, I routinely snagged the zipper on the fly fabric, causing horrible zipper jam. I feared I had damaged the fly or zipper in backing things out , all a struggle in the dark. Looking close, I found it easy for this to happen if not being very careful when moving the zipper in any direction. Also, I feel the unit would benefit from additional tie out points, as there aren't any besides the tail end. Wish they'd have included a nicer stuff sack with compression straps as well; the existing one works to transport, but not much to lessen the size of this beast.
I think this will work well for car and assisted camping ventures. A nice addition to my favorite tent.
