So compact

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These fold up really small and are easy to lock out for using. Very nice.

Compact Durability

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

With the ability to fold the utensil, I can fit this in with my mess kit with all of my other kitchen items. It's sturdy, and I love how light it is. I have found that, due to the fold, if you're not extremely careful it can be annoying to dig remnants of your last meal out of the hinge and surrounding area.

Sturdy, Light, and Compact

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I love how MSR shaved weight by taking out material on the handle. The spork is still sturdy considering this aspect. Also, the ability to fold makes an awkwardly shaped object much easier to pack!

Great For Lunch

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Folding silverware is always great for camping and backpacking but the locking mechanism on these is sturdy and then easy to use.

These sporks have been perfect addition to my camping gear. Easy to pack and store, they easily fit in my MSR stove set. Set of four allows you to be the favorite with all your friends who forgot a utensil.

I love this kit and have put it to the test. Besides being super convenient - small and light, they are way more durable than I expected.

Tastes like plastic

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Tried to eat hot food (soup). Spork started to taste like melted plastic. It is fine only for cold food.

Just a trial.

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These will be back up to the long metal spork I just bought. Looking for solutions to eating out of food bag without getting food on me, or ground. Last year took a plastic spoon and duct taped a popsicle stick to it, but it broke while in my back pack. If these can hold up like I hope they can they will be a good solution for me.

How do these hold up to boiling water? ...

How do these hold up to boiling water? Can is use them to stir a stew im cooking over a fire?

These should hold up to boiling water, although I have not personally tried this. These should be fine to cook with, just don't leave them in the stew. One consideration: although folding utensils are convenient, they can fold while stirring. I hate to include a link to a website other than BC, 'cause their awesome, but they don't sell these: http://www.amazon.com/Guyot-Designs-GD-50-Utensil-Utensil-Set/dp/B002YMN2QG/ref=pd_sim_sg_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=1NHYY1DCCDJZDV9RM5J3 This is my go-to cookset, perfect for stirring, won't easily melt, and non-stick friendly. I use the spatula to scrape my cookset after dinner. Bummer: They are a little on the heavy side, but I always cook gourmet, so they're worth it.

I have used these and they held up fine in boiling water http://www.backcountry.com/jetboil-jetset-utensil-set-jet0020?ti=UExQIENhdDpVdGVuc2lsIFNldHM6MToxOmJjc0NhdDcxMTEwMDE1MA&skid=JET0020-OS-ONSI. I would never leave them in the boiling water just to stir things and what not. Definitely get something like a titanium spoon if you plan to stir a big pot full of food such as mashed potatoes. The plastic is not strong enough to adequately get a good stir.
