Ample living space for three people.
Everyone in your packing posse has a job: someone schleps the food, someone watches for bears, and someone hauls the tent. Lucky for you, you've been assigned to tote the MSR Elixir 3 3-Person 3-Season tent. This lightweight tent readily holds you and two friends, and the star-shaped skylight gives you some other than each other to stare at in the interminable hours just before dawn. So long as you're not planning an Arctic expedition, this early spring-through-late fall tent will protect you from the elements.
Rugged 70D nylon on the bottom gets a shot of endurance from 3000mm polyurethane and DWR coatings. The body mixes mesh with solid fabric to keep you cool when it's warm and warm when it's cool. Made from 68D ripstop polyester with taped seams, the DWR-treated fly lets fresh air flow without sharing such freedom with the rain so you stay dry no matter what the weather. Two strong but light aluminum poles turn this mass of fabric into a delightfully spacious mobile abode. When winds threaten to blow your tent down, firm up your foundation by using the six (included) stakes.

Great 3P Tent
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I tested this tent out for a few weeks this summer and really enjoyed it! It has tons of floorspace and headspace and lots of pockets. I didn't take it backpacking, but did use it for car camping. I used two 25" long/wide pads and still had plenty of room for my gear. It packs into a longer, skinnier package and still only weighs about 6lbs. Pretty solid for a 3P tent! I definitely recommend it.
DO NOT BUY THIS TENT
I purchased this tent with great expectations. After a delay in actually having the chance to try this tent out during a light rain shower, and I mean light, lasting less than an hour what do I find but the tent leaks like a sieve. The rain fly actually absorbs water and puddles in the tent. DO NOT BUY THIS TENT. If I could have rated this tent a zero I would have and to be honest neither MSR or Backcountry were much help in resolving the issue. Free tent anyone?
So, I have not had this out in the world yet, but after a test set up, I am very pleased.
