  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These hiking poles are perfect for the price. You aren't spending $100 on poles so don't expect $100 quality. I've used these for glacial river crossings and steep scree ascents and descents. Only thing they failed me on was tundra-- no hiking poles are a match for the tundra!

Updated for 2014 - The value rich Rhyolite trekking poles are designed to provide downhill stability both on or off the trail. Sold as pairs and comes equipped with anti-shock system, removable hiking baskets, replaceable rubber boot tips, and durable carbide tips that provide exceptional traction on rock, trail and scree. Awarded "2011 Backpacker Magazine Gear Guide - BEST VALUE EVER!".

Great for beginner users

This was my first set of hiking poles, so I decided to go with a cheaper option and bypass the carbon option. This set is perfect for beginners. For what few hikes I've used them for, I've put them to the test each time. They're strong and my knees are thankful. I don't see any need to upgrade anytime soon, as I am happy with these and will continually use them this winter.
