    Great for the price

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Really seems like a great tent for the money. Super easy setup even with one person; packed with features and bonus footprint + gear attic. Taking away one star for mountainsmith understating the weight which is a common complaint on this tent; granted this is really more of a small 4 person tent. Weights I measured are below if anyone needs them.
Packed weight with footpint: 7lb 11.5oz
Packed weight without footprint: 6lb 14.7oz
Trail weight (tent, fly, poles): 6lb 5.6oz
Min Weight: (tent, poles): 4lb 3.7oz

    Good value

Just did a first pitch. It looks like a well thought out basic tent. It's really big. I grew up roughing it (my parents were allergic to hotels), and have slept in car top campers, backseats, and starting in the early 80's a nylon, two hoop 3 person dome. I graduated to an REI geodome 4 person, then a Eureka Apex XT 2. I now have this, the 20 year old Geodome (still going strong), and a dime store 'teepee' for car camping the full family.
This tent is spacious. I put the three bags in 'longways'. Then four bags in it 'shortways'. So it's basically a palace for three, or a perfectly fine backpacking bivy for four.
The included footprint is nothing special, but definitely better than a blue tarp. To match 'colors' (all the poles and stuff are color coded, a nice touch), the footprint goes down seam side up.
There aren't any holdbacks for the doors, but they can be jerry rigged using a window clip to a pole.
The gear attic is small but should be functional. Again, it was included, so it's value is better than free.
The poles are nice. The clips are nice. The fabric is thicker than ultralight, and that's probably a good thing -this isn't for one person, so the weight will always be shared, so might as well be sturdy.
It's a simple pitch. It's completely color coded. It is all clips. Completely foolproof. This has to be the best deal on the market for an aluminum pole full clip tent.
It's your six pound backpackable mansion.

    Great tent for the price

This tent is very easy to set up and take down. I was able to do this within just a couple of minutes. The color coding makes it a breeze. The footprint included helps with the price/value factor and fits the tent well. I haven't tried it in the rain yet but from other reviews I read before purchasing this thing holds up pretty well. The open view is fantastic for the stars and sunrise and also provides great ventilation which is vital for camping in Texas. It's light and small enough to fit into my Gregory Deva 70 horizontally with the poles out of the bag. The packaging holds the tent easily but it's not super compressed. All around, this tent is fantastic for the price.

    Great Tent - Impressed.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Picked up this tent towards the end of the summer primarily for a trip down to Moab, this was replacing a hand-me-down tent that i'd been given years before. On receiving it (promptly as always), I set it up in the back garden to give myself an idea as to how quickly/easily it would be to setup/tear-down. Straight off the bat, the color coded clips and poles made it incredibly simple, poles were light weight and slotted into place as quickly as you'd expect. I got the tent up and down in less than 20 minutes, not particularly trying for a time record either.

Down in Moab it was a similar story, incredibly easy to put up - we were happy. Inside the tent there is plenty of room, as a two-some we didn't necessarily have a need for the 3-Person aspect of this tent but it did afford us more room for our stuff, something we didn't have with the previous tent.

The tent has a number of good little features, the double entry was handy, we used one as an entrance/exit and the other to access goods stored under the fly sheet to the rear; gear storage pockets are in the corners and in the detachable gear loft. Ventilation is provided by zips in the entrance/exit and also in vents in the exterior, which can be propped open easily.

The tent comes with an included ground sheet which is nice for insulating/being careful of dirt etc, and also 10 stakes, which are the light weight aluminium ones.

Overall we're very impressed with this tent, it might not be the best for packing lightly/tightly but for camping trips like we do (camp and store bikes nearby) - it's perfect. I'm very impressed and happy that i bought this!

    Roomy for 2

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I recently used this tent with my 5 year old for a quick overnight. Loved having the space in the dual vestibules for wet gear/eating in the rain. It was really roomy which I also liked, would have easily fit 3 adults shoulder to shoulder. It rained for almost 10hrs on us and while that sucked, we stayed 100% dry. Easy to set up and take down, all in all loved it!

    Unanswered Question

Do you know the denier rating for the floor and wall materials? It's listed as 190T but most tents also have a denier rating.

How big is the gear loft? Could it fit a jacket or just a book?

I have the Marmot limelight 3p tent and feel that the gear loft is too small so I'm looking for something bigger.
