Great beginner pack
I bought this pack to do some weekend hikes and maybe a week long hike. Thereâs plenty of room for everything you can think to put in this pack. Iâm using it mostly for girl trips that require hiking in a lot of party supplies! Today I put a 4L bladder in the bladder pouch and it fit- woohoo! Iâm 5â9 150 and it fits my torso perfectly. I do feel like the belt wouldnât fit so well if I lost any inches around my waist. All the weight sits on my hips. I donât feel a bit of weight on my shoulders. Iâm averaging 20-30 lb pack weigh ins. Perfect for beginners who arenât concerned with having an ultra lite pack yet, since it weighs over 4 lbs. the price is awesome for what you get with this pack. My next pack will be lighter and smaller, and Iâm sure Iâll be paying $500 so I can do a thru-hike.

Great Large Backpack!!!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I love my new MountainSmith 80 Liter backpack; it looks great; was comfortable and should last for decades. I wish it had a few more outside pockets; also that the large zipper opening on bottom of front was actually a separate compartment than the huge one accessible from the top.. overall Very satisfied! Got this on sale and save $$!

Quality, affordable pack.

I bought this pack for weekend backpacking trips around the Wasatch and Uintas. After my overnight first trip, I can say that I'm mostly pleased. At 80L there is plenty of storage room for a multi-day trip. As mentioned in a previous review, it doesn't have as many organizational features as other, more expensive bags, but I just bought some internal stuff sacks and had no problem keeping everything organized. My only gripe is that the waist strap runs large. I wear a 31" pant and am slender, but this strap was too big for me even when I had tightened it as much as possible. When I wore additional layers (flannel and micro-puff), it became tight enough to take some of the weight off my shoulder straps. Not too big of a concern, but it could be for longer trips.

Qaulity for your dollar.
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I used this pack now on multiple trips and I am nothing but impressed. The material on these bags are quality and durable. It doesn’t have all the features that your 2-3 hunderd dollar bags have, but is definitely a great bag for only $100. I was skeptical at first but as soon as I put it to use it did everything I needed it too. It doesn’t have a main pocket divider, its only got one hip pocket and it doesn’t have a built in rain cover. It does have a bladder pouch that is rather large, it does have a large pocket on the front, its got a large capacity head, and two cinch water bottle pockets, it does have compression straps and pad loop on the exterior. The only complaints I have are the lack of a second hip pocket, and organizational ability. Both of those are most definitely outweighed by the price and I would recommend this to anyone from beginner to intermediate backpackers.
