If You Haven't...You Should
- I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
- True to size
- 5` 10"
- 146 lbs
Mountain Khakis really dials it in to functional, durable and good looking stuff, plain and simple. This cotton canvas is comfortable and the slimmer cut design is a nice departure from the overly baggy, tricked out trousers that can have a little too much fabric going on. Owned these Alpine Utility pants previously that was a go-to for everything for an active outdoor lifestyle. When they were worn into the ground after hundreds of uses, it was time for a new pair. Great pant and worth getting. Also, the brand offers many styles and fit options, and can work for a variety of body types.

My skinny on the Slim Fit
- I've put it through the wringer
- Runs small
- Size Bought
- 5` 6"
- 160 lbs
I have several pairs of Mountain Khaki shorts and the relaxed fit of this same product. It took a few exchanges of size to get the fit right for me. I'm 5'6", 160 lbs, and generally wear a 31" waist, some manufacturers even a 30". With Mountain Khaki's I found that my preferred feeling of the relaxed waist fit I enjoy at a 31" to match closest to Mountain Khaki's 33". The material is awesome! High quality cotton trousers! Such as I've come to enjoy from Mountain Khakis. It's warm on the hot days, as it is a heavier material, but I never feel like I have baby these dungarees getting on my knees or brushing out trees like some of the more technical fabrics that are produced as hiking/climbing/work pants. I actually enjoy the fit and appearance of the slim fit Mountain Khakis Alpine Utility Pants, in comparison to the relaxed. The relaxed makes me feel like I'm swimming in a pair of MC Hammer's jammers. My only wish was that they allowed me more wiggle room when hi-stepping. Trying to climb in to a truck bed, step up a ladder, or swing my leg over a fence.... I encounter a great deal of resistance as the gusseting in the crotch does not provide my legs ample room to achieve such maneuvers with ease in the canvas material. The relaxed fit provides plenty of space in the thigh to not bind the material. But if I wanna swing my foot up on the flat bed of our pick up, I unfortunately end up getting my knee instead, and crawling on like an unsure toddler trying to tackle a set of stairs.... Not the most manly endeavor.... Aside from the issue of having to hike up my slim fits to swing my boots over the top...I do enjoy these pants. Rugged, well made, and have plenty of material in all the wear spots to last for good long time no matter what endeavor you undertake. However, as I like to have the ability to be agile when working. I'm not settling my heart on these as the perfect pair of pants for my undertakings.

"Broadway" means "less baggy"
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- True to size
- Size Bought
- 6` 2"
- 175 lbs
Finding a tough double-knee pair of pants that is cut anything other than relaxed is way harder than it seems it should be. Not that anyone wants to hike or work in skinny jeans, but as a lanky guy (6'2" - 175lbs) I can probably get both legs in the average Carhartt dungaree pant leg. I figured I give these a try since the name implies a more modern fit, and the description uses terms like "slimmer" and "tailored." While I haven't tried on the normal fit, I can't imagine how baggy those are considering how much leg room the Broadway Fits still have. I would probably still consider these on the loose side of a straight fit, but again, I'm a thin guy and I didn't buy them to wear to clubs. Still... "Broadway" implies a modern cut that I just don't really see in these. The quality seems good though. A few loose threads but I think there is enough stitching on these pants to handle it. The double heel cuffs, knees, and seat are really this pant's bread & butter. I've gone through lots of pairs of double-knee pants by wearing through the seat, so I'm looking forward to seeing what a double-seat pant can take. The utility pocket is a cool feature; it's basically a second right-hand pocket with a smaller opening, but it equally as deep.
