Excellent source of energy!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I purchased these for the deer hunt knowing we would be walking 15+ miles a day. Mountain House is a great source of energy and they taste delicious. It super easy to heat up the water and hike a bit more while waiting for these to be done. The texture is great and keeps you moving in the outdoors.

My favorite yet!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This was super tasty, even better with some cayenne and salt that I usually bring in little spice pouches when I camp. It's easy and filling, definitely a bit mushy though bu t perfect when waking up in a red rock canyon after a day of backpacking.

Mushy but tasty

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

If mushy textures aren't your thing, I would probably steer clear of this meal. Otherwise it's tasty and gives you the calories you need while camping, biking, etc.

Great Flavor

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Once you get over the slightly mushy texture, and give it a really good stir, this breakfast is delicious. It can be really tricky to find backpacking breakfasts that don't contain any milk, so this was a great option for me and the flavor did not disappoint. Would definitely buy again.

Eliminates Hunger

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I wasn't a big fan of the southwest breakfast hash, the potatoes and eggs kind of made a mush together, the flavor was okay though and I was definitely full.

Good stuff

First, I dislike egg based freeze dried meals. So this was a great break away from my usual freeze dried breakfast choices.

2nd, tastes great. I would definitely suggest giving it a solid stirring while waiting for it to hydrate because it is thick. The larger chucks of beef still had a slight dry spot in them. But that did not bother me.

    I recommend this.
